Title: Ghetto GPU heat exhaust Post by: Cryptozillah on August 06, 2016, 11:49:31 PM I have been running these RX 480s for some days now.
It is late summer here and hot as hell, the upper floor where i am hosting this rig at the moment have been horrible hot. So today i went to a store and picked up a fan and some hosing to make a simple beta version of something that i have been thinking about for some time. This is working REALLY good, i am now dumping most of the heat outside the window. The rig is only standing there temporarly and will be moved to another location where i lead the hot air straight upwards and then trough a vent. Next step is try to make the collector in some other not caught fire easy material. I bought them from a guy here on Bitcointalk some years ago. I hosted my early Darkcoin miners in these frames. Now this is the third time i reuse them for mining operations. Originally the frames are built for five GPU:s and one PSU. But if the PSU are layed down it can host six cards, pretty neat. All frames are stackable too, i will post another pic when i have the miners setup at their new location. Only problem is that its only good for reference type cards because the air is directed one way. If you have those open air aftermarket cards like ASUS or Sapphire then it won't work because some air would go up, down, left, right and the entire rig would have to be in a enclosed box.
