Title: Bandwidth usage of pooled mining question
Post by: meme magic on August 08, 2016, 08:59:09 AM
Does anyone have numbers on the bandwidth usage of mining on various pools?

Trying to find out how much data usage happens only through mining.

Mining consumes very less bandwidth. More importand is the latency

My Proxy is connected to ETC Mining Pool www.ethteam.com.
And on this proxy is a 1x100MH/s windows miner running.

On the Screenshot you see 2 connection. 1 Connection is between proxy and miner. (local)
The second is the connection from proxy to stratum server. (internet)

My EtherProxy consumes 107 bytes/s internet.

=> Per Day:        8.8 mb
=> Per Month:  264.5 mb

Edit: Pool has high share difficulty (4G)

The bandwidth does not matter. The connection latency matters. The lower the latency, the better. Otherwise, you will have stale shares.

Thanks dudes I'll work on latency next, attempting setting up proxy and rigs thru a 4g network tonight.

Guessing hitting high difficulties would be a step in the right direction. Not sure much about what else to do yet, but this seems like a fun route to go.
