Title: mining question
Post by: mattc on June 12, 2011, 02:01:36 PM
I have followed this site to get me started, http://www.newslobster.com/random/how-to-get-started-using-your-gpu-to-mine-for-bitcoins-on-windows (http://www.newslobster.com/random/how-to-get-started-using-your-gpu-to-mine-for-bitcoins-on-windows)

However im still confused about most things but for now - the miner, using python OpenCL bitcoin miner, as suggested in the link. and it goes between saying its downloading blocks and then sometimes has a number with hash/s.

What is it doing when "Bitcoin is downloading blocks..." and when there is the hash/s.
How much of the hash thing do you need to get the bitcoins?

If anything im saying dosnt make sence, please say...so i can explain better.

Thank you,
Matt

There is also an option on the bitcoin.exe to 'Generate coins'?

If i have a miner program running, should i have this on?
