Post by: OmegaStarScream on August 11, 2016, 08:59:08 AM
I was just on the Bitcoin.org till I saw this "Bitcoin Knots" wallets , I visited their website (which looks very basic) but I didn't fully understand what's the different between Knots and Core exactly , even the design looks the same.

Saw it here : https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Not sure what answer you're looking for. The main page of the main site already explained what it is.

Basically it is a fork of bitcoin core which won't change the network rules (XT and classic changes the rules). It have more features but the new features are not fully tested and may cause problems.

There's an article about here (http://www.nasdaq.com/article/bitcoin-rbf-bitcoin-knots-and-bitcoin-addrindex-three-core-forks-that-dont-break-with-consensus-cm594630) if you're interested.

well , that's the issue ... I thought developers are against XT and forks of Bitcoin Core since theymos and other people consider it as an alternative coin, If it's the case then how come It's listed on Bitcoin Core website .
and If the fork happened in December 2011 , how come It just  poped up in Bitcoin Core (after five years)

XT, classic, unlimited, etc. make changes the network rules and that's why theymos and others are against them. Knots does not, it is using the same rules as core.

I pretty much get it now , thanks for the explanation . Still , I'm not sure why would anyone switch to that thing If there is Bitcoin Core which tested by thousands of users and probably have more skilled developers who are working on the project for longer time.
