Title: The MUE MasterNode conundrem
Post by: bizzyb on August 11, 2016, 11:49:56 AM
We as a team had discussed the level of investment required for MNs and felt 1 Million was the right level of investment.
It would hopefully attract whales to invest, allowing others to mine, and also invest in "shared" Masternodes.

Since the post below, the level of MUE required for a MasterNode has been going round my head and I felt that yes, maybe 1 million MUE is just too exclusive and dilutes the "democracy" of the voting power of MasterNodes? Maybe?

So here is a poll to try to gauge opinion.

I think my parameters for MasterNodes is that
1) They mustn't be perceived as some kind of elitist product.
2) Whilst they should be regarded as highly prized, they should also be attainable or a kind of future goal to pursue.
3) They should be desirable enough to limit the number of them, but not price out newcomers/new investors.

If they are 1 million, we might have maybe only 50 (which is good)
If they are 500k, we might have 3 times the amount rather than just twice the amount? (which is better?)

Please do vote and discuss :)

Many thanks

B

Some nice interest with MUE purchasing recently.
Hopefully this is a reflection on the decision making process and migration to X11 with MasterNodes.
It appears investors like the idea of having MUE MasterNodes at 1 Million MUE per MasterNode for long term returns.
https://bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-MUE

This combined with record high diff is a very good reflection on the project.

is there any timeline for migration to X11 and exchange from ,,old,, MUE to ,,new,, MUE?

how much coins are needed to own a masternode in the future?i heard about 1million..but 1 million is 2much i guess..97 million coins out so 97 potencial masternodes..not really much..i think 100k-200k are ok..
Your question has been going through my head and we've discussed a little in Slack https://mueslack.herokuapp.com/
We are going to take a poll in the next few days time asking what people think the MasterNode collateral requirement could be.

I don't want MasterNodes to become some kind of elitist tool.
I want people to feel like they have a voice through the voting medium provided by MasterNodes and to this end we are considering a price somewhere from 500k-1Million.
I'll set up a poll in the next few days and post the link with probably 3 options, 500k, 750k, 1 million.

The lower the MN price the more people that can become MN holders and be involved with the MN voting process, and this can only be a good thing.
The counter argument to this is if the price is too low there is little incentive to mine MUE which puts the network at risk, so a balance has to always be maintained.
Also, for the larger holders, the lower the price means a bigger outlay as they have to create more MNs and the associated admin & overheads they incur.

Thanks

Since I can still not vote....

Well 1M sounds good and that comes from someone who does not own 1M...yet. And it would be ok if the price for MUE keeps stable at the low level.

The last days has shown that the price for MUE has already begone to react to the new momentum the development of the coin is getting and it is totally possible that the price is rising.
So a view days agi a MN would cost you 0.5 BTC. The Price today is nearly doubled and if the community reacts positive to the new way it could be triple or quatquadruple too, that and the raising difficulty in the last days would made it nearly impossiple to newcomers to get there fingers on a masternode.

Considering this I think I vote for 500k with the addon if MUE rises the amount should be tweeked to be under 10 BTC

I vote for 500k MUE for masternodes as I think that maybe 1 million may be too much for other who want to get in. That applies in the case that MUE's price goes even higher, thus it will make it less affordable for anyone to run a masternodes in my opinion.

So I guess 500k MUE would be ideal.  ::)

500K should fit the bill

is this still 500,000mue or has it been reduced again 70k seems a lot for a masternode now and it's a very exclusive elitist product which you wanted to avoid.  Or have enough people gotten in early enough to mean that you simply do not need any further nodes?
