Title: #BitcoinSurvey2016 report published
Post by: jammers on August 11, 2016, 02:05:18 PM
Hi all,

#BitcoinSurvey2016 results have been published just now at http://bitcoinsinireland.com/bitcoinsurvey2016-report-published/ (http://bitcoinsinireland.com/bitcoinsurvey2016-report-published/), available on an optional pay-what-you-want basis (or to 1Eihn5TNN7k82ry4yxC4VQoDxKwAJjEevr)  , and includes information on over 770 results from over 60 countries across the world in over 10 languages.

The report looks at bitcoin users across the world opinion on a number of topics including bitcoin pros and cons, mining, gambling, exchanges, wallets and demographics.

Headlines include 1 in 6 who reported losing bitcoin on an exchange, and 1 in 8 who have lost bitcoin from a wallet. There is also over 40% of people who gamble bitcoin.

We'd like to thank the bitcointalk community for those of you who participated, and hope you all find some useful information in it.

Comments and feedback is welcome, and we're seeking help for next year to get it into Indian, Filopino, Indonesian and Portuguese, as well as to identify Chinese sites where we might be able to partner to run it there.

Thanks

Jamie & the BitcoinsInIreland.com team

40% of Bitcoin users gamble bitcoin ? It seems unrealistic little bit If you ask me. (unless you count satoshi's gambling { those who tests gambling but never really gamble anything big } )
As for the feedback , If you guys want to look more professional , you might want to re-design your website as It doesn't look that good . (there is hundreds/thousand of awesome WordPress themes out there ,I'm sure you could use them).
For your future plans , any idea If you guys will get into Algeria next year ?

Yep, of the survey respondents we had in across 68 countries. That's actually slightly down on last year, although we had triple the sample size.

We had a couple of Algerian responses to the survey, but not enough to look at a dedicated country report

Thanks for putting in the effort to conduct the survey. Hope your team can continue the good job so that we will understand the development of bitcoin over time.

That's right, I do not agree with that because in some gamble site is providing a free amount for their member for daily , and maybe a lot of people is just trying with free amount and not spend their amount into that, and I cannot categorize it in the users of gambling.

probably there is a bias during the screening...

I note (about the author):

...A bitcoin enthusiast who mines bitcoin close to the Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. He's come into the bitcoin industry after spending a decade in the games industry....

And in the right part of the home page there are a bit of promo for btc betting, Nitrogensport.

How big is the sample size? Maybe the sample is not that big that's why they got 40%. One sign to test if 40% really does gamble is to observe the gambling sites traffic. I think if it is really 40% we would see more traffic than what we have now. Bitcoin is always a hoarders coin. Only a small % of users spend it.

Amazing work guys! It's data like this that people like to see and give us a good idea of Bitcoin/crypto use and feedback.

I'll definitely like to help promote this survey next year to get as many participants as possible.

Thanks

we're seeking help for next year to get it into Indian, Filopino, Indonesian and Portuguese, as well as to identify Chinese sites where we might be able to partner to run it there.

so why didn't you get participants from those countries while this forum has their local sections?

I think you should translate your survey into those languages (there are translators from those countries), and post it on the local section, and you will get the participants.

Yeah, it's much better to do. Because with so he can more freely in understanding the circumstances in each country who would help him, if something like this I think just having the potential for quite a bit. Better indeed to use the forum of the local dithread will he snap

Interesting results! Still think that the amount of people losing Bitcoin is really high, especially on an exchange... Also good to see that your sample got bigger! Let's see if it gets bigger next year.

Congratulations on having finished this report.
I do not have the leisure of having to listen to the whole 46 minutes of the report nor reading the whole article/report. At least not right now. I just downloaded the pdf and I'll read them when I get my time off. This does seem interesting and I remember I was probably one of the respondents here.
