There is so much wrong in here, clearly their boss has made no effort whatever to be sure this isn't crap.  They just write whatever they want.  

Journalism is at the lowest integrity level of all time.


"Every bitcoin is created with a private key" - No.  This is not true.  Misrepresents the nature between keys and bitcoin.  Should be keys and addresses.

"Every time bitcoin is sent, the private key changes its value"  - lol  No.  Not true.  A private key never changes its value.  

"So you cannot re-use old private keys."  lol.  No. Wrong again.  Totally wrong.

"Multi signature effectively breaks each private key into multiple pieces."  No.  Not true.  Not even close to true!

"You need a majority of the pieces to move the bitcoin"  Not true.  Totally false.  Multi sig and do a 2/10 for example.  

Journalists don't even bother trying at all to get it right.  Any competent proof reader would have told these two buffoons they are idiots.  Quit making shit up!  If you want to be a writer, you have to write stuff that is true.  Don't just make up a bunch of shit and publish it as if it were true.  These writers have no understanding whatever of bitcoin keys.  They need to go do a story on flowers.  Bloomberg should be embarrassed to put their name on such low grade garbage.

I swear a lot of these magazines just copy and paste stories like this and run with it. Was reading a magazine on some book write up when I had that thought I had read this article already,but the magazine was new that week. It was word for word and Bloomberg has a tendency to do this a lot that I noticed. Their bitcoin articles always smell of not really proofing the story and just running with it.

Well the first point is kinda true since they do land somewhere

The second one is just poor writing skills; I believe they were trying to say the balance changes, as in monetary value. If any other intention was met, then yes they're wrong

The other three are really just journalistic incompetence that show a clear lack of due diligence or integrity

"Ermahgah there was a big bitcoin hack who wants to write about it"

"I'll do it"

"But do you even know how the system works"

"Nope but it'll sound legit trust me"

These people are a pack of bloody morons, i would sack them all if i had my way. idiots  :-\

At this point there is simply no regard for making sure anything is factually accurate anymore, and a lot of it is just based on either shock value or a half-assed attempt at applying some knowledge that the journalist attempts to apply to whatever the article is.

This goes for most things these days, and I don't think it will change anytime soon.

Totally they do not know about bitcoin and just making a fuckin article about bitcoin for pushing their popularity. and that's a fucking idiot with making a bad rumor like this one. and absolutely all of the said is a lied and i just wanna say if all of he is a liar.

This its just another article paid from the credit companies, as banks and maybe some others companies that lost some costumers to bitcoin, this will never end even if bitcoin reach 2000 dollars value, those magazines wanna to sell and they know we crypto community will buy it to read, there isnt any new significant at the real world to they talk about? If they wanna help about bitcoin just come here and ask, im sure the people will be able to explain and clear any question around bitcoin.

The author of this article does not know how bitcoin works and maybe tried to explain bitcoin to other people who don't know well how bitcoin is made and what the bitcoin multi-signature and private keys are. Is there any place to report this as a false article, misinforming the audience?

Holy crap for once I agree with what you're saying. These people clearly don't have a clue what they're saying. If for some reason they do know what they're talking about but just wrote it terribly that's an even bigger fail in my books.

That is a pity. To think some of these irresponsible "journalists" who have graduated from good and fancy universities only to become clueless, misinformed idiots who writes whatever they want are a bane for everyone. Uninformed, ordinary people who are relying on these "journalists" to give them information that are considered fact are victimized by these journalists' irresponsible and sometimes even corrupt actions.

We should tweet those people and tell them, in a nice way, that what they wrote is misinformed and just plain wrong.

What cracks me up, is that RawDog < The biggest Troll / Shill on Bitcointalk > has reached Legendary ranking on a forum dedicated to the promotion of Bitcoin, and that he has posted a thread to defend Bitcoin. Will we one day see him turning sides to fight against the system he is currently supporting? That would be one of the highlights of this forums history.

This guy has clearly a lot of knowledge of Bitcoin, but he is fighting the wrong battle. ^hmmmmm^

What interests me about the whole Bloomberg fiasco here is that apparently very few at Bloomberg know much of anything about Bitcoin!  Bloomberg employs thousands of purportedly smart people, yet they cannot easily find someone on their ranks who knows enough to write about this subject without so many mistakes or distortions?

Neither incompetence nor malice seem to explain this.  Perhaps it's both...

Most funny thing they have written is "Every time bitcoin is sent, the private key changes its value" , even newbie knows that private key will not change for lifetime.  ;D ;D

I doubt the author's IQ, he must wanna say the balance changes its value, lol, but he didn't know the meaning of balance and pri key.

I have a theory.  Craig Wright failed to convince us he was the founder and now he wants to destroy Bitcoin with disinformation.

You have to imagine that there are a lot of people out there that are actually willing to pay for this kind of journalism. It's unbelievable that in today's world where you can research a topic on the internet more effortless than ever before you are confronted with such kind of pure misinformation. But maybe bloomberg is on a mission to spread such misinformation to prevent potential users from understanding and using it properly.

However as it happens that I personally know a few journalists I'm not surprised at all. These people tend to quickly sort every kind of information into some kind of personal mind grid, even if it means bending the truth. Their working style is extremely superficial and they are not interested in true insights - I would even go as far to say that they generally lack basic technological and mathematical abilities - , yet they tend to think highly of themselves.

Oh my goodness, what on earth is this article, it gives us all the wrong information, it is very bad especially for the newbie or common people who just want to start to join bitcoin world, it will give them the wrong idea on how bitcoin work and how bitcoin is earn, how can they just published an article without knowing the truth, it is ridiculous

Mainstream media never gets the technical details right, so they shouldn't even bother with going into them. Even the specialized media makes lots of mistakes. In Bitcoin.com they constantly make articles that interpret the lightning network in a good way (then again who knows if it's in purpose due an anti blockstream agenda)

You really shouldn't have to expect this from such a big name a Bloombergs, I would expect their articles had to be proofread before publishing.
Sad to say that this isn't even the worst article I've read about Bitcoin, in terms of misinformation.

I am not surprised to see this kind of journalism on Bitcoin coming from a source like this. You have to remember the editor will have to be

more knowledable about the subject for them to approve the articles, and in many instances these editors are even more clueless than the

journalist writing the article, so the editor do not want to look stupid, and he just accepts what the journalist is feeding them.  ::)

But the editor could contact a bitcoin expert and pay him $1000/hr to ask: "Is the OK, or bullshit".  In two minutes the bitcoiner can say this is bullshit.  So, for a cost of $33 (two minutes) the editor can have a decent story with integrity.   

Next time you read a story on a completely different topic, one in which you are not an expert, just remember it is also likely to be extreme bullshit too. 

Integrity is long gone from reporting.  Journalism today does not include even a tiny obligation to be correct.

Yes, probably the author only know more of blockchain but lacking good knowledge of the Bitcoin in it entirety.
It is highly important if someone wants to say or write any about bitcoin or cryptocurrency should have in-depth knowledge of it before embarking on that journey of his.
