With no fees it can take quite a while - some cases even days. I learned it pays to spend a little on transaction fees to make things go smoothly. The only problem is that it was MtGox that didn't pay the fee! It was a withdrawal I had made. I checked the tx in blockchain.info and it showed but wouldn't get added to a block until 4 hours later cus MtGox was too cheap to pay the transaction fee. This was totally beyond my control.
