Title: Anyone having Bitcoin tranfer issues and confirmations today
Post by: davidjohnedge on August 16, 2016, 01:19:03 AM
Is this issue happening to everyone? Having issue with two seperate wallet providers so it doesnt seem to be a fluke issue. But one transfer with a wallet has been waiting for confirmation for 5 hours and another has been almost 2 hours and still hasnt even shown up at all. Wondering if this actually is an all around Bitcoin issue.

Glad to hear i am not the only person having these issues. So seems like this is a wide spread issue. i did get an email from one wallet provider telling me that couple of hours ago over 20k transactions still have not been confirmed.

I saw on blockchain.info many transactions remains with 0 confirmations for a time that exceeds the 2 hours

I think that their will be some heavy transaction pending on the list due to this this problem is occurring as i have seen so many times when some exchanges do small transfers in bulk this type of Transaction delay happens. I think it will take around 24 hrs to clear all problems in blockchain.

Can you post the transaction id's from the unconfirmed transactions?
There are some ways to speed up the confirmation time, altough most of them are pretty complicated (double spending, CPFP, contacting a pool operator), so unless it's crucial the transactions get confirmed, it might be best to just wait it out.

PS: even with loads of unconfirmed transactions in the queue, you can still get your transaction confirmed pretty fast just by adding sufficient fees!

This is happening to me everyday. The fast transactions is already lost and I thinm they want a higher fee for it to come back to the faster one. This will make an issue with bitcoin. I thought that is one of the best features of bitcoin. Fast and cheaper. Now it become slow and cheap. Pay more to make it fast. So sad.

"Pay more" in this case is around 0.0005 (28 cents right now) for a 1KB transaction.  That's still cheap if you think about it.

Low amounts doesn't make a transaction fast (in fact higher amount gets higher priority).  What matters more are the transaction size and the number of unconfirmed transactions in the network.

Please provide Tx ID of unconfirmed transactions for proper guidance.

This sometimes happens. From what I can tell, someone's trying to do a spam attack on the network and everyone who had a lower sat/byte ratio will find it harder to get a confirmation.

The blockchain BTC usage is at high usage not only today but for long time, on that you add the people that want to crash BTC proce with their spam attack, plus the core and classic argues and people still using old wallets with low fee

One solution is to adopt secondary coin (LTC?) for less low value transaction, define a crypto world better and not just fight, also scale bitcoin to batter handle but not ruin its security should be first objective

sometimes there are large number of transaction coming in the network and it clogged from time to time, miners sometimes found blocks more than the average time so number of transactions coming in is more than the transaction getting confirmed, result is it will be stocked until miners get more luck on solving blocks

It was resolved. You have no reason to worry. Transactions slow down in the network from time to time, but it has always got past so far. If you want quick transaction and relatively low fee, you still could exchange your BTC into altcoin and use the less stressed altcoin network to pass the transaction.

Like the following:

your BTC wallet -> ( exchange ) -> your altcoin wallet -> ( altcoin network ) -> receiver's altcoin wallet -> ( exchange ) -> receiver's BTC wallet

It's an interesting idear, but you would still need to create a transaction to send the  BTC to the exchange's deposit address... So in case there are loads of unconfirmed tx's, an really high fees, i don't know if it would solve the problem.

Maybe it would be better to have some stable altcoins at hand in case you need them, instead of exchanging them when you need them?

Yes I had suffered transaction issue last week and i was in  big dilemma whether the bitcoin is transferred or not . Even my sleep was gone at that time. But as your question had mentioned today. So my answer is no. It's fine now. I know system is not go so obviously there might be some problem.
