Title: Abuse of links it trust feedback
Post by: NeuroticFish on August 16, 2016, 03:13:50 PM
Hi,
I think that the links in trust feedback should be restricted to this site.
Else we get advertising/abuse cases like this:

Looks like someone is trying to build backlinks for their site but google or other search engine doesn't index trust page so it won't make any affect.I don't think restricting link to any external site is good idea because sometime user's add proofs that are hosted on external sites like imgur and others.

What about archive pages, blockchain transactions (/blockexplorers) or screenshots on any given hoster?
I ofen use one of these as a reference to my feedbacks and I think we shouldn't take the possibility to do so from users.

Else we get advertising/abuse cases like this [...]
Now that's something interesting...

You're right. I don't have a good solution, but maybe somebody finds out something.
Because something has to be done before it gets too big to be contained.

We're talking about one case right now, correct?
Or is there a whole list of feedbacks of this type (and if, is there more than one account, and more than one service utilizing it?)
I'd contact an admin and suggest removing that specific feedback as it's "spam" (advertisment) in some way.

Since you made me research, I've got a starting list for you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=772607
(I didn't make a screen capture this time.)

And I feel that this is only the peak of the iceberg.

The risk is that a reference link could lead to a malicious site with malware, or even a phishing site.

There are plenty of good reasons as to why a link to a non-bitcointalk page would be used as a reference.

Easy. Just create a thread here to detail everything which would be much simpler. Not much people can tell just from a blockchain link. I think we should restrict it to this site. Would stop people being malcious like this or using phishing links.

Yeah, contact theymos as he'll probably remove them in this case.
