Has anyone tried mining here? I may begin mining here with all the DDOSing happening to the the popular LTC pools.

Can you also please post the setup/installation instructions. I know it's different from standard pools because it's P2P and requires a bit more setup.

It actually requires a bit less setup.

Very simple actually.

Just point your miners to the address: http://p2pool.org

Use your Litecoin address as the username and any password will do.

Try to use the Litecoin address from a client and not from an exchange.

Any shares you earn will be paid directly to your address that you use as the username.

By instant, I mean't to say automated, like you don't have to do anything like cash out or meet a balance.

How do we see share stats?  How do we know you're not just stealing mining power? Any 'share' we earn is paid would indicate many low value payments.  I'm not seeing that, so please clarify.

P2Pool.org is not a PPS system.

It is PPLNS.

I do NOT get a whole blocked paid to me then I disperse to my miners.

The P2Pool network itself acts as the main receiver of an entire block and disperses the funds based on the last number of shares submitted per round per address.

I know I might sound stupid for asking - but it's just not fully clear. Does it require doing the proxy thing that they have to do with p2p pool on BTC? Or can I literally take my miners from notroll.in pool, as is, no changes -and point to P2Pool.org? Wouldn't that just be another standard pool?

Don't feel sorry at all.

You don't need a proxy.

All you have to change in your config or settings is the URL to p2pool.org and change your username to your Litecoin client adddress.

If you are unsure of anything else let me know.

When are the auto payouts?

It work the same as PPLNS does. You will get paid once the p2pool network finds a block

Question for you LTCFaucet

According to your site the expected LTC after 24 hours is almost 4 LTC. What is the based on? An average hash rate? I make about 8 LTC / day on notroll.in - which is double this value. I'm guessing that i don't understand what the stat actually means... can you help me understand better? Thanks!

LTCFaucet, a question regarding the automated payouts... I was logged in mining yesterday from about 2pm until around 11am this morning. During that time, I had 9 accepted shares (yes, I'm guessing that sounds low to most people... I'm currently using a 9 year old computer, so an old processor. Also, I would imagine I don't have the most efficient settings plugged into the miner and client).

About 5 of those shares were accepted between 2pm and 10pm last night. However, no payout has occurred yet. Is there a minimum threshold to reach before the auto payout kicks in? I also thought I read somewhere that shares go "stale" or something if they are not credited within 24 hours (might have totally misread that part.... trying to take in a lot of information on Litecoin in a short amount of time).

Any details on the auto payout, and suggestions regarding the slow mining (other than the ancient computer), are greatly appreciated!

Payouts will be made once a block is solved.

That's one thing about P2Pool nodes you have to be patient.

Share difficulty seems low, I'm cranking through the shares very quickly.

LTCFaucet - question for you:

I'm looking on your site, and I can see the graphs, and find my workers, with the average LTC and all that.... but I still can't figure out if the graph means average LTC per min/hour/day. Can you make it a bit more clear? Is that how much LTC I would earn per hour?

I would be happy to mine more with your P2Pool (I like the P2P part of it), but I want to know what my returns will be. It's easy to figure out my returns for other pools with up front stats, and trackable stats over time... I want to do the same for your pool.

Why are you mining on port 80?

Simply because I do not need Apache to run with P2Pool.

It reduces load on the server and also makes it easier to access the pool with your mining software by not having to add the port.

has LTC difficulty spiked or something? when i first started mining (getting around 200Kh/sec) i was getting 0.11LTC and up to 0.18LTC per block payouts, now it's down to 0.02 and 0.03LTC per block payout..nothing changed on my end...gotta be difficulty changing?

Yes, difficulty has been increasing quite a bit.

A lot of people are switching their mining rigs to Litecoin.

Especially since the price of LTC is rising also.

Last I seen it was at ~$4 per coin.

Switched over, as the pool I use is suffering today (ddos maybe?).  Easy enough to get rolling, but my stale/invalid rate is incredibly high, pushing 30%. I am usually sub 1%.  Any insight?  I'll be switching this machine back to btc if the rate continues.

What I find is you need to disable queuing  and change scan time and work size.

If using cgminer:

Set queue to 0
Scan Time to 120
Worksize to 64

Remember to restart cgminer with your new changes.

You should see a pretty good reduction in stale/rejected shares.

Down significantly, but 13-15% is still too high.  I'll mess around with settings a bit more, but open to more ideas.

Increase scan time a little bit more, maybe 180.

It takes some tweaking for sure, and I believe a majority of the stales stems from the p2pool network itself.

What is the advantage of using your popol compared to an own p2pool node? Sorry if this sounds stupid - my first day looking at p2pool...  ;D

If you can setup your own p2pool node i would suggest doing that. More for protecting of the Litecoin network.

Ltcfaucet is providing a service to connect into this network. Course his service can be DDOS'd. P2Pool cannot.

I originally put the site up so that people who did not want or did not know how to setup p2pool could get a feel for it and how it worked.

In all honesty there are more disadvantages than good with p2pool.org in terms of mining.

Number one is the fee, I only charge 2% but you could easily run your own and pay 0.

Number two is ping depending on your location.

Number three is the fact that p2pool.org can be attacked by denial of service.

And it has, several times, haha.

In essence p2pool.org defeats the actual purpose of p2pool in the sense that I am centralizing one particular node.

When every miner should be running their own node.

If you are new and want to get a feel of different pools with out going through the hassle of setting it up first then you would get on and try it.

I do all of this as a hobby, a very expensive hobby, but fun none the less.

And I enjoy helping people out and coming across a hurdle every now and then.

Sorry for the down time.

Once the pool hash rate goes over 25Mh/s Python eats up all the allocated RAM and the process get's terminated.

I am in the midst of getting a dedicated server that can handle the work load.

Very sorry for the horrible uptime.

Once I get the new server I may make p2pool.org available for Bitcoin, Litecoin, and a few other alt-coins.

Maybe a nice new layout also.

I was mining feathercoin for 12 hours yesterday and never got paid any feathercoins..

your TRC p2pool installation is deprecated (p2pool had a hardfork since 11.4), your TRC p2pool installation also submits blocks to different TRC chains, for example block 175629 does not exist on current TRC chain.

Your p2pool and litecoind node is old and insecure.  Please pay attention to the news and the alerts spamming your logs and the web interface of your own node.

Hi !!! I'm on elizium.name and I want to know if there is somebody who wasn't paid because my last payment was 2014-05-28 00:09:51 and I earn the half bitcoin maybe du at the difficulty but i'ts seem weird ??? Usually I earn 0.01 btc everyday at 180 gh/s ?? Is it happened sometimes that they do have problem with the server ?
