Steem's a total scam.  If you want to take part in a REAL decentralized social media network, come on over to Synereo (http://www.synereo.com).

Developers and cryptocurrency enthusiasts should encourage the development of Steemit. It is a way to see and observe what is done right and what is done wrong in actual practice. Calling it a "scam" and discouraging users to use it should stop. We want them to go there so that we'll see what is truly at the end of it all. I see Charlie Shrem is using Steemit.

Actually, a 10 year old version of Stemmit exists and it's called:

www.seekingalpha.com

...... Seeking Alpha................................................Steemit

Design:.... blogging platform ............................. blogging platform
Users:..... 2,000,000........................................ 10,000
Target:... financial market advice....................... general, but crypto focus
Payments: distributing ad/subscription revenue..... crypto payouts from ninja mine, upvoting
Valuation:  $200-500 million .............................. $175 million

If Steemit can focus, focus, focus on crypto/financial advice it can challenge Seeking Alpha...
And if someone can stop Dan Larimer's instinct to double down on bad ideas with more complexity.

Synereo is a solution in search of a problem until proven otherwise...
Their White Paper is barely comprehensible and uses all school examples which is a bad sign.

Steemit
Users: 10,000
Valuation:   $175 million
$17500 per user, and the users only use it hoping to earn a few dollars. Good scam!
