As our platform has evolved along with our understanding of our user base, it became apparent we needed to look at the brand as a whole, btcpool.exchange was initially a mining service today were so much more than that, so we took the time to re-brand our platform, and were not even trying to hide our history, full disclosure is important. New Features This is not a comprehensive feature update list, however we feel there worth special mention. -- Coin Voting & Insta List, Coin voting has been hugely popular although it hasnt driven alot of users to the site to date, partly due to our dated old look and the problems with the old platform, the new system will retain the voting by BTC but will add the option to place votes with the very coin you want to get listed, there will also be a brand new insta list feature, where for a fixed fee you can get any coin listed for a guaranteed 180 days. -- SockChat, brand new fully intergrated chat service no more 3rd party, finer control of users, there are no filters on chat your welcome to say anything you like, we will address this should it get out of hand, we firmly believe everyone is entitled to there own opinion. -- Improved Graphing and Statistics, we have performed miracles in terms of our stats and graphs whilst there still older am charts, we are working hard on StockCharts and HighCharts, you should start to see these in the coming weeks as the roll out begins, they are not active yet, as there is simply not enough data to produce a "complete" graph period. -- Dice and Bones games, just like satoshi bones or any other dice game, only we support any coin that's listed on the exchange, the system is proverbially fair, for dice the number 50 belongs to the house, a similar deal with bones where betting starts at less than 61k with 61,000 thru to 65,000 belonging to the house, we are working hard to add blackjack and poker to the system, and perhaps a game or two TV shows many moons ago, for example Price Is Right. -- Tipping (Vouchers) Some of you will remember our old voucher system, well that's gone because it never worked as intended not even salvaged we have a brand new tip system, allowing you to transfer or send coins to any registered user, in a matter of seconds, all with zero fees. -- Market Improvements All markets have had a lot of minor tweaks and changes to allow for faster order executions, orders are no longer executed on a cycle, when you place your order now, you automatically trigger the trade engine which will execute instantly if sufficient orders are in place. -- All New UI The biggest complaint has always been the CRAP website, to many cooks in the kitchen makes a mess and that's a prime example, the new site is superior in every single way, will scale out better into the future and offer a seamless experience rather than something that is seriously clunky and counter intuitive. == API - yes at long last we've completed a very basic API, we need your feedback here to expand and improve, we want to build the most comprehensive API out there, and do so securely, so if you would like to see additional calls get in touch explain what you want if we feel its viable every effort will be made to implement it. -- Stake We have enabled staking on all of our wallets, we enabled this on 16th 08 2016, in the coming weeks users will start to notice daily balance updates as stakes are counted an distributed on a very simple premise, every 24 hours stakes are counted and distributed per coin per user and paid based on your current balance, for clarity, no payments under 1 whole coin will be made, so if you have a dust balance you wont earn stake sorry, this feature will not be on or off, its on for everyone at all times, altex charge a fee for processing stake as you can imagine its rather intensive managing 50 wallets that stake thousands of times a day. Today i thought i would post a bit about some of the features within Altex.ws.. GAMES The first game is DICE https://altex.ws/Games/Dice this is found under the Currency Games tab found on the menu on the left hand side of your screen https://i.imgur.com/IAoAGqJ.png ]This is a basic Hi/Low game Low = all number 49 and under and Hi = all numbers 51 and up, you basically pick whether you want to bet on low numbers or Hi numbers, 50 is owned by the exchange!! For picking the correct HI or Low the payout is 1.25x the bet that you put up and there is a max cap on how much can be bet per game, all coins on the exchange can be used to play Dice!! Altex Profit Token (APT) Alot of people have asked about APT so here is the rundown on it.. AltEx Profit Token Information APT is a mechanism to power progress and give you the chance to earn a regular payment and share of the profits we make. In total there are 1,000,000 Profit Tokens, this supply number is fixed and represents 100% of the Exchanges profits, 400,000 Coins are made available by this system and by means of promotions will eventually be in the hands of the community at large, whilst the other 600,000 coins are divided between the owners and operators of the AltEx Platform, meaning we get paid by the very system you get paid by. Each week we total up the profits which are tracked in real time, and perform some simple maths, we divide the total of each coins profit by the total number of tokens, and then pay you based on the tokens you own, nice simple efficient and easy for everyone who owns to token to track and understand, this method is fully automated as well so payments will happen as regular as clockwork. Unpaid Rounds From time to time rounds may go unpaid, but don't be alarmed, the reason is insufficient coins to divide, the minimum payout is currently set to 0.00000001 and thus when we divide profits by tokens and its less than this, the job is aborted and run the following month until its paid We recognise and understand some coins will not work particularly well, or could take months to earn a payout, usually coins with ultra limited total coins, should this be the case, or it becomes a problem, we will make some changes and pay those coins directly in BTC instead. These can be bought on the exchange in its own market with a 0.2% trading fee , this can be traded like any other coin on the exchange and every week earnings from everything mentioned above are distributed directly to you account balance.. Thank you , atm we are concerntrating on making sure everything is running how we require it , thats why at the moment there is a 0% trading fee on all markets but as we progress we will be looking at different marketing strat's and possibly things like sig campaigns, a profit token to share profits with users and a few other various ideas we have, we are walking before we run !! We are looking at various coins to add to the platform as i type this , but first we like to look at the code , tomake sure its secure firstly , Stratis was added last night, but we will always be lking at new coins that bring value to the exchange, but more importantly bring value to the crypto scene as a whole!! On the part of 0% fee's , it will be while we are in public live beta stage!! In regards to security, whilst we don't want to give to much away, its safe to say we take it seriously, we employ strong database hashing and encrypting anything that's sensitive is protected> Hot and Cold wallets are 100% isolated from the exchange system itself, there are several safety methods in place that stop any potential intruder from getting at the coins with ease, wallets are only ever unlocked to process withdrawals for example, if hot+cold balance is less than total coins for users the coin is instantly stopped without any intervention to use, were working to expand this feature further so that coin is on Server A all wallets on server A will be stopped. We use 2FA Security allowing you to protect your own account, and we ensure the latest security updates for the underlying platform are applied. Were not gonna sit here and say its perfect and fill you with promises of the world most secure exchange, this update has been a major overhaul, there may well be the occasional bug here and there, but were working hard to solve them as they come up. BTC Pool operated for over 2 years, with zero lost funds there was one incident but said user came forward and returned the coins, and was paid a bounty for his trouble :) I think for a little operation that speaks volumes at this point :-) Remember to keep yourself safe, keep coins in your wallet, they only need to be on the exchange to be traded, they should be under your full control at all other times. Were opening up a claim once faucet for APT, new and existing users will be able to claim 10 free APT once. Now this is important for everyone else who finds bugs, whilst bug hunting is usually done for the good of others, the moment you put a withdraw request for those coins it become theft, and wont be tollerated. The irony in this case here is they got 0.03 BTC from the platform, and i would have personally paid them 1,000 APT, Worth way more than what they got, so Epic Win for the assailant there. Whilst incidents like this are totally undesirable, and looking at the way exchanges deal with these incidents in the past, we feel it better to just be honest with our auidence at large, the user in quiestion has been banned from the software, and we will monitor this situation very carefully, the faucets are offline untill further notice (should only be a day), the BitCoin that was removed from the exchange 0.03 BTC has been replaced from my own Reserves, No user balances were touched, the incident was between the faucets and our distribution user, so the coins taken were our own to begin with (hopefully that makes some sence). So there it is folks, a good week from where were sat. Fiat trade systems are already in place and ready for operation, initially were going to launch with the obvious 3, but there's no reason to consider us set on those 3, with support will always come adoption, something worth considering. All we have to consider is the operational cost and risks, we have a pritty rugged format for how it all works and the checks in place. So USD, GBP and AUD will be available to start, there will be deposit and withdrawal limits initially, walk before we run. EURO's is something we should probably consider, it does after all encompass a massive massive market, well see what other legal hoops are needed for a EURO Fiat Market. In terms of getting deposits and withdrawals processed there are a couple of different options open to us, But you can expect the normal, Direct Banking, SWiFT/IBAN, Skrill and something no one else has...... So right now, the whole platform is on just 2 servers, sliced up in to several virtual machines and remote backup storage, we thought we had more than enough power 12Ghz / 96GB / 8 TB We was wrong, so with the additional hardware and a little bit of trickerys, were moving into our very cloud, weve more than trippled the CPU and RAM, and storage is up from 8TB to almost 60TB, a bigger network to work in and much more reliability we hope, now if a host fails things should be moved to the remaining servers and service will just carry on. So there will be a maintenance window tonight from Midnight GMT to 8AM GMT, during this time, you will get a 404, i would put up a maintenance page, however this upgrade requires us disconnecting the entire network and thus any maintenance page would be a 404 anyway, and i'm reluctant to alter the DNS to another server for just a few hours. When we return online you should notice a much snappier performance more reliability and a much more stable and reliable system all round, and there will be the bonus of excess capacity we can start rolling out more features that are complete, and have been on hold due to lack of server resources.
