Title: Apalling IRS video made with $60,000 of US taxpayer money

This video was made by the IRS, starring IRS employees, using $60,000 of taxpayer money. I was able to get through about 1 minute of it before I just had to turn it off. It is just awful on so many levels.

If they're trying to alienate anyone who was actually siding with them (the "I don't like tax, but it's a necessary evil" folk,) they're doing one hell of a job.  60k may seem like a drop in the bucket to them, but that's a really nice year's salary gone down the tube for nothing.

Well, this money is still better spend than towards what they usually do.

What amazes me the most is is in the first minute:

Quote
...its neverending mission is to seek out new tax forms, to [not understandable] strange new regulations and to go where no government employee has gone before

They actually seem to be proud of that!

Only thing missing is "and to never question my superiors"

...

Where can I get a bunch of those brainwashed zombies for myself?

When I saw the section CBS described like this:

Quote
"Back in Russia, I dreamed someday I'd be rich and famous," says one crew member in the parody.

"Me too," agrees another. "That's why I became a public servant."

And the two fist bump.

All I could think of was this:

When I first saw it, I thought it was made by people making fun of how stupid the system was. I watched the whole thing thinking it was a joke and the funniest and dumbest thing I had ever seen.

Then, later, I saw a news story claiming it was real. Then another. And then I laughed again at the absurdity of this propaganda video for the IRS. Gotta view it as a bit of dark humor and it becomes way more enjoyable.
