Title: Bitcoin core questions?
Post by: BitcoinSupremo on August 23, 2016, 03:40:12 PM
I have downloaded bitcoin core 0.12.1 and it was synchronizing with network and it needs just about less than one year before it is fully synchronized. But now 0.13 is out and my question is how do I upgrade to 0.13 or how do I uninstall bitcoin core 0.12.1 and download 0.13 and restart synchronizing it ? And is there any big difference between the 2 that I should upgrade it or maybe I can stick with 0.12.1 ?

Just download 0.13 and install it. It will overwrite 0.12.1. However no data will be lost and it will pick up synchronization right where 0.12.1 left off.

maybe all go fine..
but if i were you, i would save wallet.dat for reliability.
if you do not want to resync, just back up your %appData%\Roaming\Bitcoin\blocks folder and reuse it after install 0.13 core
then form console, use "rescan" command
