Title: Proof of stake coins with strong community
Post by: Johnny00 on August 26, 2016, 02:38:35 AM
Hello,

I have been searching the forums for good POS coins with good development and community and aren't prone to price manipulation. In no order I like.

Zeitcoin
Blackcoin
Peercoin
Mintcoin

What other coins are there that have a future?

Thanks

Nxt which isn't exactly PoS in the inflationary sense because the supply remains fixed like Waves and you earn Nxt through forging (which is essentially holding onto Nxt like you would in PoS to stake) has a strong community behind it. Just check out the Nxt 2.0 movement!

Vericoin/Verium have a strong community...lots of development going on over the last 2 years. Verium will be released in the next week or so...first dual protocol crypto currency supported by a digital mine-able commodity. A PoS and PoW working on the same blockchain supporting each other and working together.

Waves is going to use what they are calling LPoS which is a lending PoS model, check it out.  There was a lot of money thrown into that project so it has a pretty big community on their site Waves Talk

CLAM, this coin has been here for more than a year now and currently sitting at 100k+ satoshi in price. you don't need to have the wallet client in your desktop if you want to stake it, you can invest it in just-dice.com and you will earn stake coin everytime they got some stake it will be shared to all

well kiss my grits;

TALK is the www.bitcointalk.org community coin.  Could that be a POS with a strong community?

blackcoin had one of the biggest pumps ever back in the mintpal days. they're all gonna be targets for price manipulation at some point. out of that bunch I think peercoin is the realest coin. it's been around for a long time and has some great ideas. it deserves more attention.

When ? How? Where ? The coin would definitely have potential only if supported by the community.As you know the higher level staffs here aren't really supportive of alternative cryptocurrencies,its quite difficult to get support from the community as a whole!

Yeah I remember the Blackcoin pump, it was epic, amazing how high that coin went for no solid reasons other than some gimmicky stuff. I hope that everyone dumped a long time ago. It is now a stagnant coin and I don't see how it will ever gain any traction.
Not even peercoin looks like it can get anywhere to be honest.

Really?

I see highwater mark of $18M.  This pales in comparison to XPY, LTC, DOGE ... those are the classmates of 2014 PnD kings, and BTC was running @ $1300, no?
By end of 2014 it had dumped down to $4M or below for highwater.  It is nearing 2 years as a stable product, at around $2.5M.
I would suggest BLK is one of the more legit, stable, POS projects at this point if 2014 shenanigans can be forgiven.

Point being just look at all the current ICO, something for nothing with Market Cap well above those numbers.

@iGotSpots

how many coins have you released?
and what are they?

volume wise, yes. I remember it was 8000 btc or so during one 24 hour period. that was pretty much unprecedented back then for a previously obscure alt.

Since everybody is throwing names out there, I'll add Stratis and Radium to the list.

Obscure? And which cryptocurrency introduced mulipools? :) This was huge back then. BC is in fact one of my biggest mistakes. A "virtual friend" was telling me on CoinEx trollbox to buy when the price was 500 satoshi, but I refused. Then I decided to buy 200k when the price was 750-800 satoshi on Poloniex. Then about a week later it was listed on Mintpal and I sold all and took about $3k profits. About 2 weeks later the price went to $0.57/coin. :D

What coins do you suggest then?

Mintcoins are on sale right now since Poloniex is delisting them for no reason. They are the cheapest price they've been in a long time and are traded on several other exchanges too. MINT gives a good POS minting reward but not too low or too high, fair parameters, and has been around for years. Good strong community. Also a rate halving is coming up in about 5 month, in December. The minting rate will halve from 10% to 5%. Less coin supply increase should help be price positive too.  :)
