Given the relatively low value of the attack, Kent believes the motive was not financial gain but more of a “dry-run,” intended as a proof-of-concept to attack other blockchains based on Ethereum with higher market caps — such as Ethereum Classic.

The Krypton Community on Slack did an excellent Job today defending against a very abrupt rise in unknown hash rate. And from my understanding the nodes were being DDOSed.

The Krypton Founder sent an alert out on the Slack page and members responded very quickly.

Krypton Members added another pool, more nodes and lots of hash power to ensure the network remained secure. Whether or not it was another attack is not known however seeing the community response shows dedicated members who see a bright future in Krypton.
