Title: Recover a Yahoo Mail acct?
Post by: Deuceisgood on August 29, 2016, 03:35:49 AM
Elderly couple visited today, spoke about a yahoo mail account that they've been unable to access after forgetting their password and trying all avenues. They've already given up on the account and he says there is nothing valuable there ... but I'm thinking they may have lost pictures, old messages & memories.

Wondering if someone here has a way to recover the account password, cheap? If there is a massive database of stolen acct/password combos floating around the darknet, maybe someone could look this one up for us?

I'm not prepared to pay a lot for this. But if someone could do it easily, please let me know via PM.

Have you asked them to consider contacting yahoo or contacting their customer support directly ? I know gmail accounts can be recovered in cases like these. I would suppose that  Yahoo being a multi-million company would also have something in place.

You would think. The guy said he found it impossible. He gave a long narrative on his efforts ... I don't recall the specifics.

As said, ask them to contact the support,no through emails but customer service number. There could be at least some recovery method available in case they've forget the password/phone number linked/personal details. If only the Email id is all they know,it seems very difficult for anyone to recover it.Anyone can claim that they have forget the details with random events and ask the support to recover.

I have in the same scenario with my gmail account so what I did is that I called the customer service and ask them if they can help me to recover my own account. And for verification they have ask me some few questions regarding the account and I answered it right. And upon waiting for few minutes ( I guess 10 minutes ). They have considered me that I am the real owner. Just try to call the CS of yahoo.

Just as a suggestion you shouldn't be asking people to hack things.
This is a public forum where everyone can see this, your better off contacting yahoo if you remember your details.

i think yahoo is also have this option, because yahoo increase their security access for people using their yahoo email, like add phone number, add second email, and password hint if i am correct. if the OP filled all description and can remember, i think the OP can recover his/her account. i have this experience and fortunately, i'll save the info on my phone so what i'm to do is, open my phone and see the detail and filled into the question box on yahoo, then my account gets recover.

my suggestion if your account has recover, don't forget to saved your details in notepad or something like that, and save it and only you that will know, so if something happen, you don't have to worried again like now.

Yeah, I second this. Do you think maybe they jotted down their passwords somewhere? Or maybe they used the same password on another login website and maybe could retrieve it that way?

I think it is a hard job to do, so when we are talking about hacking only few people can do it effectively and it need a specialize skills for someone to do the job, if that is really important for you then you should be ready to spend a material amount just to recover the information you needed.

You have the point there using the word 'hack' is not appropriate if they just want to recover an email yahoo account. And it is better if the word 'recover' is going to be used at all. But maybe op is just thinking on how to help the couple. The best way is that contacting yahoo by using telephone and call their customer support.

Yes, account recovery is a very different concept from hacking, and it's the term you are looking for in this case.

Also, I'm pretty sure that asking about "hacking" an account would be illegal, and against the rules of this forum.

Reminded me of a forgotten Yahoo email.
I feel sad for the elderly couple but I dont think they can ever get it back again.
No ethical hacker is going to help you as hacking an email account is a crime

No they don't. It is impossible to recover a yahoo account by contacting customer support (from my own experience).

Almost this entire thread is a perfect example of how signature spam can really ruin this site. I'm going to take someone's advice and put several (not all) respondents from this thread on ignore, because their response is completely useless and obviously only to allow them to spam their sig.

Welcome to my ignore list guys.

In my eyes this is more like an excuse to get somebody to hack an account for you.
If the account really belongs to somebody you know, you can help them try out all the options to recover the account and if that doesn't give any result, trying to discuss with their support is the next step to make.

If this helps, yahoo was hacked a number of times. So if it's an old enough account, the password is on black market too. Trying to remember the password is the most useless thing to do in such cases. Password recovery is the way.

But again, hacking the account to "make a surprise" sounds strange.

It's a grandma, for crying out loud. An elderly couple. According to him that is.

I can see how this could be a way to engineer people towards hacking a rival's account, it all depends on how much we trust OP.

Account recovery is not difficult in this day and age, you just need to prove rightful ownership of the account, and I recently recovered my brother's Gmail through his Android phone, all he had to do was prove it was him through IP Address and device information. He had no recovery questions or anything like that by the way. Just talk to customer service. That is, if it's really account recovery you're after, and not attempting to break into somebody's account without their consent (which is very illegal by the way).

Well, the husband told me they tried to contact Yahoo but couldn't get a hold of anybody ... ran into a brick wall. The account was used by his wife, who is Filipino and likely used the account mostly to communicate with family back home. So:

A. anybody who helped me recover the password could themselves look in the account and see firsthand that what I've said is true.
B. Likely if they don't speak tagalog most of the mail in the account will be unintelligible anyways.
C. It sounds like an old account, and the couple/lady likely did not change their password often, so if this account was part of some big hack some time ago, the e-mail/password combination might be floating around out there on the dark markets.

Never mind, it doesn't sound like anyone here has a clue, just want to chatter up their sig campaign.

Ridiculous argument. My signature campaign posts are limited to 20 and I've met that a long time ago already. I know it's difficult, but you have to admit that what you are asking for in the title does not suit what is in the description of your post. What you are looking for is account recovery, not account hacking.

Oh, I see you have changed it now, smooth.

Blah blah blah. You are posting 20x per day, but not to max out your Yobit campaign? You prolly have an alt-coin to sell us too, lol. You weren't on my ignore list, but you earned it with this last post.

Welcome.

I do not stress over being on the ignore list of one user in a forum full of many.

As for your statement, "You prolly have an alt-coin to sell us too, lol", it makes no sense from a grammatical perspective.

I also have the problem, but I remember my password the only problem is that I do not logged in there for a longer period and now the account has been disabled and I cannot create another with that address, I need that one.
