Post by: coga on March 28, 2013, 05:05:12 PM
This is a thread for the folks who oppose the idea to petition whitehouse.gov, or want to discuss if it's productive or not. see this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=160213.0

I oppose it, but I also believe we should all be discussing both sides in a single thread.  Huddling together in our own threads only confirms our own bias.

Petition them to accept bitcoins for taxes.
Better petition them to harakiri themselves and leave Bitcoins alone. They cannot reliably tax on bitcoins anyway and will make things only worse. And taxes are bad thing after all.

I was referring to governments accepting bitcoins as payment for perceived tax obligations.

And why they must take them if they don't want to take? Trade your Bitcoins on MtGoatse or Localbitcoins for dollars and then pay your taxes to fund invading sovereign nations and sponsor drones over US cities.

One thing has historically defined lawful money, and that is a government accepting it for perceived tax obligations.
