No idea, the site was demo'ed at today's ripple meetup, that's how I found out about it going live, presumably it's gonna make it "easy" to buy / sell XRPs (as opposed to doing it the hard way by creating a gateway account and withdrawing IOUs into Ripple to trade inside ripple directly). xrptrader is for the ignorant masses who'll flock to Ripple eventually, think of it as a tax on people who can't figure out how to run regular ripple.com client and how to grant trust to a gateway.
