Title: Querying Blockchain.info address tags or similar service Post by: haggis on September 02, 2016, 12:05:17 PM I'm currently writing a research paper about the bitcoin network and need access to a list of well known addresses linked to e.g. MtGox, Silk Road, SatoshiDice, BitPay etc.
However, I can't find a API call on blockchain.info to retrieve this information or at least a search field on the website. Do I just miss them? Do you know any other sources for this information? Title: Re: Querying Blockchain.info address tags or similar service Post by: Decoded on September 02, 2016, 12:07:37 PM Of course blockchain.info wouldn't supply this information. Why would they? They just have a simple API. I'm pretty sure certain addresses have been marked (e.g. I've seen SatoshiDice Hot wallet or LuckyBit Red, etc.) IIRC, you can simply search for them.
Title: Re: Querying Blockchain.info address tags or similar service Post by: haggis on September 02, 2016, 12:32:30 PM I just found https://blockchain.info/tags but it seems like you can't search for a specific address or service. The only option I see is to write a crawler script which extracs all addresses from all pages :-\
Title: Re: Querying Blockchain.info address tags or similar service Post by: haggis on September 02, 2016, 03:58:09 PM I created a quick 'n dirty python script to crawl blockchain.info/tags:
http://pastebin.com/c3wXxQVk However, many important addresses are still missing like mtgox and silk road :( Title: Re: Querying Blockchain.info address tags or similar service Post by: Patatas on September 02, 2016, 04:37:54 PM I'm currently writing a research paper about the bitcoin network and need access to a list of well known addresses linked to e.g. MtGox, Silk Road, SatoshiDice, BitPay etc. Yes,www.walletexplorer.com can help you find weather an address belongs to particular service only and only if they have listed/named it in their notes on the blockchain.Anyhow,I'm more curious about the paper you're coming up with. What does it proves? Why SatoshiDice and Bitpay ? What do you mean by addresses linked to Silk Road ? There were a n number of merchants and buyers with different addresses,no way you can figure out weather they're linked to Silk Road or not. However, I can't find a API call on blockchain.info to retrieve this information or at least a search field on the website. Do I just miss them? Do you know any other sources for this information? - MtGox - I would ask older users about it, people familiar with Mt.Gox should have their old addresses bookmarked - Silk Road - it could be hard as I dubt anyone will share info about their affinity with SR - SatoshiDice - why don't you ask in their official thread on bitcointalk? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.0) - BitPay - it is a legal company, shoot them an "official mail". |
