Title: Bitcoin client 3.22 randomly creating new Receiving addresses
Post by: Psyqo on June 13, 2011, 12:12:06 AM
So ever since I got the 3.22 client, several times a day I'll have a new Receiving address created for me, and the frustrating part is that it overwrites my main address in the primary window, so if I want that address to display I must go to the Address Book and select it.

Also, I can't tell how to get rid of or clear the other receiving addresses.  All I'm doing at this point is mining so I've received a couple BTC here and there, but I only want to use the 1st address I got and have no need for these additional addresses that keep being created.

It's a security feature so all those transactions can not be traced and connected ... it's not a bug, it's a feature ;) but you're right that there should be an option to disable or configure that behavior.

I think I need some more clarification.

Why does this need to happen automatically?  If I need a new Receiving address, I can just generate one in the client right?  I don't see what purpose having more and more addresses created for me when at this time I'm only using a single one to receive BTC.
