if some portion of cpu cycles were used for one or more of the several social distributed computing projects. I am referring to NOAA atmospheric research, SETI, cancer research, etc... standing projects which are happy to have your spare CPU cycles to help with their particular number crunching needs. Work done for society and future. Would it help anchor a currency in terms of perceived value? Title: Re: social cause - proof of work Post by: robcat on April 03, 2013, 09:26:31 PM Maybe it can be good advertising for the currency, but maybe also that the if the same CPU cycles were used in the mining process the currency can be perceived stronger because of the bigger CPU backing... Who knows which is better?
