should I buy BTC , DASH, DOGE for holding this coins for long term.

Go with buying bitcoin for 90% of your money.
For the rest of 10%, you may buy DASH and Dogecoins. I guess you have forgot or ignored to consider Litecoin as it is another long term stable altcoin. ETH is last joiner in this group.

Why only I am suggesting only 10% for altcoin is they are highly tied with bitcoin's value appreciations. So, when bitcoin flies they also will fly but bitcoin is the first one to trigger this for sure and more secured for your capital.

I have some thoughts as you said. I will prefer BTC first and LTC will be a good coin but it's not hot altcoin .

Consider to buy dogecoin or feathercoin.

Bitcoin, Dash and Doge all are worth coins, but for long term, i think it's better to choose bitcoin than other coins. Because bitcoin have a good future imo and the price can increase.

What you said is correct buy and keeping bitcoin for longterm is also a good investment as almost all altcoin are mainly depended on bitcoin price. And in altcoin you cannot believe if any problem they will first drop the price. You can also do altcoin trading with your 10% so that you can earn some more from altcoins.

maybe holding BTC is a good investment buy for altcoin i think only ETH and DASH are the good ones to hold, markets on DOGE is kinda dropping these last few months so i don't think it will be good to hold it

If you are investing in Alt Coins long term investments are definitely not the way to go unless you have done a lot of research and can see the coin growing over time. Alt Coins are usually better for short term trading, buy one alt coin...wait for a spike in the market and sell. Rinse and repeat.

BTC on the other hand is a great long term investment, many people will agree that the price is not likely to go down in the next year for example. If you are patient, I would definitely think about transferring any alt coins you own into Bitcoins and holding them for now.

you can see some of the coins such as ETC and ETH. I even did not suspect XMR after 1 year can rise very high, that's some examples altcoin that can hold for the long-term.

How long should I keep DASH for long term? Maybe 1 year or 2 years

It is always not recommended to go long term for altcoin, as altcoin are not stable and they are mostly rely on their projects, But bitcoin is the main source of all Altcoins and what ever affects bitcoin gets that will affect to Altcoin , but if any altcoin price is getting drop that wont affect bitcoin.

I wouldn't be buying alt-coin,s right now, I'm trying to mine some alt-coins and keep them, probably trade for btc. But buying and hoolding BTC, yes, deffinetely.

I agree with holding BTC. But other altcoin listed in OP is not a good coins for holding a long term.

@OP, maybe you should try XMR,ETH and XAUR for a long period investment in alt coin. They are a great coins and have a potential on inflating in next years. You can check their status and background on your own if you want.

I personally do not collect bitcoins any more because of my gambling,i spent them on gambling always but i would advise you to collect bitcoins and hold for a long time,but i don't trust doge or dash anymore so don't invest on them,you can try and buy ethereum if you want but buying bitcoins will be the option i think

actually not so bad hold altcoin for the long term, it's just that we are hard to see the coins that are good for the long term. but better not hold too long just to take advantage of short-term trade altcoin.

Hi, this would be the correct time to buy bitcoins. The price is less compared to previous months. So buying and holding the bitcoins as of now would yield you good profit when the price goes up. The price may go up end of this year or beginning of 2017. Lets hope so. Its almost like buying and saving gold coins. Its a good idea to save for future profit.

I would suggest you to hold the bitcoins because bitcoin is the most potential and first ever emerging digital coin around the world then as you compare the price of the bitcoin with altcoins means this is the best among all coins. Better try to hold the bitcoins and you will see the potential like a gold in future.

My genuine suggestion is, staking bitcoin or any altcoin is good way if user want to go for long term investment.

But I think altcoins have high volatility so user can get more profit with daily trading.

Daily price of currencies changes tremendously which result in good profit.

I would split my investment in smaller parts... you buy and hold Bitcoin with 80% of your money. You hoard that Bitcoin for the long term, until it's

price double or triple and then you sell 50% to take some profits. The remaining 20% can be used to buy and sell all of these Alt coins that are being

hyped, like Monero and ETH etc... This will reduce some of the risks with trading.  ;)

It is nice today to buy bitcoin because you will don't know in the next next month bitcoin will rise and if you want to buy bitcoin to trade it into altcoin then thats better so that you can grow your money and minimize your loses also well goodluck if you are going to hold coin it take times or month to grow :)

I think it's not so bad to hold altcoin, but in small amount and regarded as a small investment and then will get great results a few months or years. like the example of my friend, when it was he hold EGC at low prices several hundred satoshi. then be increased up to 5k even the highest reaches 60k sat. My friend get a profit 7BTC of the coin and takes 5-6 months.

I agree with this,  putting  much more amount  on bitcoin would make you somewhat safer in future  when  you could possibly gain profits for sure   and  he has a point that  those altcoin are highly tied up with bitcoin  when  price moves then  surely  it goes the same with those alts. ETH and LTC and XMR are coins  which i see has the potential in future too.

When it comes to digital currency, holding is truly profitable. At the same there is no use of holding every coin that exist, one needs to predict the right coin in rise. Till now bitcoin seems to be the one to give better profit on holding compared to most other alts that were in use.

Buy BTC, it is the only crypto which is really used by people in some ways. Other coins are simply pure speculation tool.
Doge at this point is turning out to be failed crypto not really going on or Doge market.

I would buy and hold Bitcoin if I was you, in my opinion the price will nearly double in the next couple of years.

Short term, I would invest in ETC.

i agree with you, buying altcoin is very risky since it's price very volatile the alternative maybe mining them ,many of the altcoin right now are still well suited for mining on our computer and even there are some coin that you can mine them on your smartphone.
anyway i advise you to invest your money in bitcoin like i did, keep increase my balance it's good for long term investment.

You don't need the others, just buy and hold BTC. But remember, it is a very long term investment. It may take 10 years to reach 10k$. It may never reach to that price too. You should be ready for everything. That's why instead of going all in, you need to put a percentage of your wealth into bitcoin.

Definitely a good idea to hold some BTC in the long term. As 2nd poster said, alt coin exchanges and trading is a good way to make some money in the meantime but save at least 50% of your funds in BTC form. There's a lot of promising alt-coins than can make you some money in the short term and even some in the long term. It's yet to be determined which coins fit into the latter category

Yeah and we cannot be sure about the future of altcoins as they can disappear in coming period but we know that bitcoin will not die so easily so its better to put higher amount in bitcoins.

I think you have to be more flexible and dynamic with altcoins in general, 2 years is a long time in altcoin years since most are only around for a few months. There are of course exceptions but you should probably still keep a close eye on their evolution. From my experience, altcoins are influenced by trend, I've seen some good altcoins that were once hugely popular fade into obscurity for no real reason. So it could happen that you need to sell before the 2 years are up.

as long as that altcoin not disappear in short time, i think its a good for us. and i think we can still make a good profit with that altcoins for middle time. but if we are confidence to hold bitcoin, then you should keep your bitcoin and waiting a good rate to sell it. maybe for this year, the rate of bitcoin will be in range $600-$750, and maybe in next year the rate will be jump over that rate.

It is always a good idea to diversify when you want to make an investment but at the same time you shouldn't force yourself to buy multiple things and invest in them just to have diversification.

As for altcoins i will only invest in Litecoin for a long term investment but the rest are only good temporarily and you should buy and sell them fast.

I would suggest you to buy and hold Bitcoin and then go for Ether. Dash and Monero can be other candidates after investing in bitcoin and Ether.

I would also suggest that you stay invested in bitcoin like 50 to 60 percent.. another 10 to 20 percent in Ether. Rest in dash or monero or in other emerging currency.

BTC has big market, it's the most stable coin. You could hold and hope for growth.
bitcoin.org gets about 2.4 million visitors every month, all the way from march 2016.
dogecoin.com gets about 110.000 visitors this month, but they used to be 160.000 visitors a month
dash.org has 350.000 a month, they used to be 120.000

The data doesn't make much of a mystery. Go with bitcoin for stability. Go with dash for possible quick profit. Forget dogecoin

You things wanna make money (profits) on bitcoins ? This are good idea buy for long term, cause bitcoins will be worth as future, where bitcoins recognizable so fast and began to be trusted then used.

For me Altcoins are not realy good idea make money (profits), I've seen altcoins do not focus on a specific achievement.

No dont hold altcoins they are a testing ground for the real thing (BTC).  Trade in and out for specualtion only.  This should really be moved to alt section.

Those coins are already old coins. If you're going to hold anything, either hold a new potential altcoin or hold BTC. Those two has the potential to rise over time. I don't think Doge and Dash are increasing any time soon. Those altcoins has been there for a while and I don't see people trading those anymore. They used to be big, but now they're just pioneers of altcoins.

That altcoins i think is now stagnant ,just like they said it is testing ground especially the beginners on trading to try a minimal amount to trade on ,much better to search for a new altcoins which have something great projects and have a good feedback which can be a great goin to hold for a long time .like XMR ,monero coins .now try to look a new set of big altcoins.

Bitcoin is the best money to hold for the future I think.  I would not like to save doge, dash or ltr because It would produce very low volume profit for us. So bitcoin is always best.

Yes it is true that he need to hold his BITCOIN for the future and for the price increase will happen or the spike happen this november 9 and i know that alt coin for me will never be in the long run like bitcoin he should sell his doge dash and other altcoin alternately too make profit of bitcoin.

As no altcoins can be trusted for long run so i would probably suggest buying bitcoins and then trading other altcoins with those bitcoins for short term to earn some extra profits everyday.

I don't think it can be advised to treat altcoins the same way as bitcoins.
These days altcoins are just an object of short term speculation. They are pumped over a small period and rapidly dumped after that.
Nobody can say if there will a come back for a specific altcoin.
Bitcoin is different. It's not easy to pump or dump the bitcoin price because its market capitaization is much higher.
The value of bitcoin has proven to stay constant compared to altcoins. Here a long term investment can make sense.

Long ter investments are something you buy and then don't look at it for a long time. That can work with bitcoin.
Altcoins are often pumped and dumped within a few days. You would have to follow the charts all the time not to miss the opportunity of selling at a good price.
And there are chances as well that your coin never gets pumped.

Buy & HODL bitcoin's - Yes it'd be a good move for you. Around a year ago the price was half what it is now so you can see the merits of HODLING. Personally I plan to HODL for at lesst another 5 years, price dependant.

I'm not a fan of altcoin's & haven't ever bought any myself so I can't advise you on that/them.

For me not those altcoin is the only the best to buy and hold for a long time to make a good profit you should have a bitcoin to hold and always check the coinmarket and choose the top 20 to hold for a long time those altcoin are legit and i think they will stay long than above top 20 altcoin..
It takes a long time to make a good profit in those altcoin but legit way..

We don't that thing that bitcoin will live forever. maybe it will live for long time but forever i think its not we are not fortune teller to know that thing but its impossible that bitcoin will not crash and gone thats why we have altcoins here so that we can convert to other altcoin..

No doubt nothing is permanent in the real world, but we can afford to have more trust on bitcoins in compare to other altcoins as bitcoin will surely not disappear in a single day as many altcoins does.

as for altcoins i agree on Dash to buy and invest in but not Doge because it is not a good coin at all. it goes up from time to time but over all it is dying and going down in price.

i think buying altcoins are much more profitable as their price is much faster than bitcoin and anyway you can take it in other ways too you will have lossing chances both in bitcoin and altcoins but in case of altcoins it is much higher

I personally would only hold a large amount in bitcoin for long term. I would only put small amounts into altcoins because I would guess that they are less likely to last for the long run.

agree with you I prefer to hold large quantities of bitcoin compared to hold altcoin, hold bitcoin much safer for fluctuations in price, many altcoin that are only good at the beginning after that they can't survive, hold altcoin just for short time sell when the price is up, but not for bitcoin even the price go down now but the price will go up again just wait for a moment
 

I think Doge and Dash haven't real potential like Bitcoin actually. Its always better to focus with earning Bitcoin and holding it as the price is rising and its expected that it will increase more on the future.

Personally i buy and hold Bitcoin, and i'm not really interested about Dash and Doge, because i know Bitcoin have best price which will increase more soon

For me right now I'm holding my bitcoin for a long term. But I also have eth for a short term trading. Right I gain some profit by trading my bitcoin to eth vice versa.

Buying and  holding BTC is always a good idea. There is almost guarantee that at some point price will be higher than now so if you can wait for it you will profit for sure.

From the altcoins Op mentioned only Dash has potential to be used as speculative coin. I am afraid that Doge's times are over.

Other altcoins worth trading are: ETH, Monero and more recent MaidSafeCoin

Holding Bitcoin is always a great option. As price of bitcoin is climbing as per prediction. As well as bitcoin have great future. This is the first decentralized virtual digital currency used globally and even can be evaluated in Fiat currency.

In Crypto market Bitcoin is master or prime currency. And each altcoin have value just because of bitcoin.

i think for me, i will hold btc for a moment and waiting for next increasing price and beside that, i want to buy ethereum and doge, because for me, doge is like long investment and its good to hold.

Buying some bitcoins, grow it and then hold it for a long time 'till it's price go up again would be the greatest idea. You can have a very huge profit from it than saving altcoins and Doge.

None of those alt coins are worth trading for long term though they are trusted in the markets in a large extent, but still we cannot invest in them and keep them for too long as they are not as strong as bitcoin so they can drop their price anytime.

Maybe you could consider some alts  but dont focus or invest too much on it, its better  to  focus on bitcoin as  you said  bitcoin is  strong  and  its the most   main crypto that  being used today. Well there are  potential alts  which we could also consider  but  the  risk on  those  coins are still their and also to bitcoin.

better hold bitcoin which I think has great potential to increase in the future, but if you have a lot of bitcoin is not so bad to put a little on altcoin. because altcoin also has great potential to increase in the future.

I think if anyone is planning to invest in any altcoin at this stage then I think he should go for etc,eth and xmr as this are the coins which will never disappear with an blink of an eye and will survive in long run.

Just to echo what quite a few people have already stated, HODL your Bitcoin for the long term and I think 90% is a nice safe figure.

As for Alt coins with a possible future I think ETH looks really strong. I'm waiting on zCash (release 28-10-16), and am currently trying to understand how to mine it.

I've seen a headline yesterday about the bubble of central banks is going to burts soon and the price of btc will probably jump to alltime high.

i hope so but i have been hearing somewhat similar news about something bursting/breaking/exploding/... and bitcoin price going to the moon but it never happens.

and the next day you hear another fiat is going to go down but it doesn't happen either!

my advice is just buy bitcoin and nothing else because if you aim in the future is profit i must says that holding bitcoin is more secure than altcoins especially for DOGE i'm very doubt this coin could be the exact investment for the future because the price seems stuck and i think there is no benefit holding this coin any longer

I am also preferring to have only bitcoin as other crypto currencies are highly dependent on bitcoin price levels. But, some people are claiming that they are making huge amounts of profits by having other altcoins for some short period itself.

Anyway, holding bitcoin is always safer and high returns assured one. So, I'm happy with what I am right now doing.

i think it is your choice and you have the right to do what you want with your bitcoin if you want to invest it in alts you can make good money there, if you want to play gambling with it so if you have good experience of gambling then you can also make good money in gambling.

DOGE is so dirt cheap right now, you wouldn't lose much by investing in it.
And if you look at the volume in the last few days, its between 3 and 10 times where it was a day or two ago on most exchanges.

As said by most, hold the bitcoins you have for now and wait for the price increase. The price is now low. It would be even better to buy few more bitcoins and add to what you have now. Save as much as you can. Doubling the profit would be the focus for now. The price seems to increase in 2017. As you hold your btc, keep your wallet safe and secure.

Probably the best thing to do is invest in a bitcoin casino, this way you can still profit if the price falls. I have used just-dice before as well as crypto-games and they seem to give great returns.

I think its still good to invest in dash since dash is one of the top altcoin in coinmarket cap so it means its still have a potencial to make a profit there if we invest in dash. but honestly i have few dash but i have more dogecoin..

You can buy any coins but for my opinion, you should buy bitcoin, now it is best than others, so better is that buy it and hold it, if you don't want to hard working with your bitcoins. Actually it is easy way to make money, only hold it and sell when you think your bitcoins give you good profit.

Holding of bitcoin right now is really good because i can see the potential of the bitcoin price is going to increase, Im not sure if those alt coins are going to increase the price itself too holding bitcoins for long term is a good one to save money in the future maybe those coins if you want to resell it or sell it into bitcoin then do it right now.

Buy and sell is one of good thing to do when you are in crypto currencies you can really grow your bitcoin there if you just hold your bitcoin to wait till the price bump up then it will takes time nor days and weeks before it happen sometimes it will take more longer than we really expected thats the reason of some inpatient people who using trading

For the most part Bitcoin would be ideal as it recently recovered from the 1,XXX crash and has more economic potential with newly formed startups as well as media exposure.

Overall, BTC is Gold, Litecoin is Silver whereas DogeCoin is the brass of these 3... So i'd imagine them rising up as such.

Selecting from bitcoins,dash and doge and obviously the only thing that should be bought is bitcoins because thats the one i can trust and dash and doge cannot be even compared with bitcoins i think.Dogecoins has even should a decrese in its value since last year,so bitcoins should only be trusted.

That's actually a good way to lose money. When I first started in crypto, I too, for a while, thought that if I held coins for long enough it would eventually pay off. I think that at the peak of my altcoin delusion, I had about 20 different wallets/coins on my computer that I had planned to hold long term  :D They were all of course 'promising' coins but only 2 or 3 actually lasted past their first year. Some coins are only good for a quick profit.

Yes, What you mean is the best answer I think because most of the people have thought invest on other alt coins like Doge, dash or ltr and etc.. Holding the bitcoin and make profit from that is the best and easiest way to get profit.

True but there no assurance that bitcoin price will really increase it always in demand i think on market? If invetors buy's lots of bitcoins then that's the sign of bitcoin will increase and if the bitcoin decrease it will be increase again and again sometimes bitcoin price is really stable.

Yes there is no guarantee of making profits from altcoins and its very risky to hold them for a long term, but bitcoin can be good in long term so there is not much risk involved in holding it as we are sure that it won't ever disappear just with an blink of an eye which always an possibility with altcoins.

Bitcoin holding is the best option yoi can go with, the price will surely rise for 100% in the next few years for sure. Not. Ao sure about altcoins tho, but imo i wouldnt be investing into any alt coins, but thats just me.

Bitcoin holding is always better then holding any altcoins and if you are investing in altcoins then its better to play with them in short term and take benefits from short term fluctuations to make quick profits.

Doge has zero potential for being an invest net option. Its infinite supply is making long time investing in this coin basically worthless.

I agree as long as they're coins you haven't had to spend real money on, like for example free coins you've acquired through giveaways. You don't even need to keep the wallets on your computer, just save the private keys somewhere, it doesn't cost you anything to keep them. I've made some money this way from coins that I got for free. I kept the private keys on Google drive and months later noticed that they had gone up in value  :)

If i may choose i think it's better to buy and hold bitcoin, the other alt coins potential is not as big as bitcoin, if we compare the price up rate and the stability, bitcoin still the best while other alt coin seems to volatile, and doge coin is not a good investment for this year, the rank keep sliding down and the price keeps on dropping, while dash still an okay coin

That is actually right, Dogecoin has got no potential at all to be a good investment which can generate any profits to you in long run if you are willing to hold, I even think Dash should also not be held for long term as that is also an alt coin which can make a u-turn anytime, the only thing deserves holding is bitcoin which has got the potential of growth in long run.

Alts would  be also  a good alternative when you intend to  diversify  your money through alt  investments  because  you wont  know    if it would follow bitcoins path  and its better  to  hold   if  you really  wanna  focus  into  bitcoin. Alts  would  still give you decent amounts  though  but  not the same  onto bitcoin as   you mentioned.  If you   hold  different alts  its better   not  to sell off  on  current cheap price.

I wonder about what happen to DASH, though. I am aware that lots of altcoin experiencing slight down rate, but DASH seems having a very difficult phase, it keeps going down. Anyone knows why? Even LTC didn't seems to suffer such downslope this great

Its not a good idea to sell bitcoins right now  for me saving and hold more bitcoins is a good choice because i feel that the price will increase more soon or this coming months according to other people said about bitcoin..
