Title: Can an apache tomcat server be used for mining?
Post by: katsikes on March 30, 2013, 01:04:08 AM
Hi, I'm pretty much a total noob when it comes to mining. I have access to an apache tomcat server and was wondering if I could use it to mine and if it would be efficient. Looking for instructions, as detailed as possible, because as I said already, I have no idea what I'm doing :)

I also have little knowledge of how the server works but I know this much: I don't have root access. I can upload files and run java classes though. I'm pretty sure other languages would also work but might require some figuring out.

Anyways, someone who knows what I'm talking about will probably understand how little I know about the subject, but I'm willing to learn :D

Obviously it is possible, since you can program a java miner, but you would actually be losing money.

Could you point me in the direction of an easy to setup/use java miner? Server costs are no issue.

What I was looking for was something too userfriendly apparently. I wanted something that could run pretty much on its own, mine through CPU and send the BTC to an address on its own. I got much reading to do, so never mind about this topic. Will try more on my own and see where it gets me.
