Over the past couple of months, there is a lot of talk about Ethereum being a good Altcoin. I know that it has had steady growth for a while, but I don’t see any first forward benefits. What makes Bitcoin better than Ethereum or Ethereum better than Bitcoin.

Moreover, my friend also told me that something unique to Ethereum had been hacked lately. I would like to know what that is and what advantage it has. Thx in advance

Currently etherum is messed up with the hard fork creating another eth clone named etc. And also DAO was the token distributed on ethereum chain which got drained away from the hacker due to security flaw in dao. And this is the actual reason for why they have done hard fork, it is still under early phase of adoption and testing but have smart contract feature which bitcoin dont have however bitcoin seems superior to me to be used in daily life as secure payment processor.

What makes Bitcoin better than Ethereum? The answer is obvious if we will look into the current status of those two cryptocurrency.

Now what makes Ethereum better Bitcoin? I can't answer this honestly because for me it's no sense to think that Eth will become better than bitcoin. Yes ETH really makes some nice fantastic show during the past months especially when big whales pumps it up to the point that it passed LTC but it doesn't mean it will bring a good competition over ETH.

Bottom line, it's just like an other alts where the purpose is to get profit.

Bitcoin is the mother of crypto currency that is can not replace by any other currency and most of the people using bitcoin for their online transaction and bitcoin has more offer services that can used by its users

Bitcoin is more secured. more easy to use, and the price is higher then ethereum .eth recently faced an hacking attempts and price dropped to low.

Bitcoin si more famous and been used more often than ethereum, like we know crypto currency price and life is depend on how often being used, so for that reason bitcoin is more stable than eth, from what i heard ethereum ever want to catch up with bitcoin but because of the hard fork, now ethereum got set back

Maybe after you're visiting the market you can get a clue why bitcoin is better than ethereum at this time, and i think ethereum is not better than bitcoin on this day, and what are you mean about what advantages it has?what are you refer to.

Let's forget for one moment that Ethereum is hard forked and that it was hacked. I think the biggest advantage you have with Bitcoin is the hash rate backing it up and also that it's much more decentralized than any other Alt coin out there at the moment. To simplify, it is a much bigger network, with a good security history. ^smile^

I do not have any idea with ethereum.  I just know that it is another cryptocurrency copied from bitcoin. Bitcoin still is the best and very popular around the world.  It is the first cryptocurrency and I would take any risk using other digital currencies over bitcoin.  Bitcoin has more place here on earth as some company and other stores where using bitcoin as an alternative or an option in payment.

i think is because bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency which born and ethereum is born after 5 years bitcoin work. and if people said that ethereum is better than bitcoin, i would not said anything, because each people have the right to say their opinion. and maybe let the time will gives the answer.

beside that, many fiat currency is using bitcoin to trade, so i think its the other bitcoin benefits for us.

Both bitcoins and ethereum is really good cryptocoins but i more prefer on bitcoin than Ethereum, because the bitcoins price is more expensive than ethereum and i already used bitcoin since 3 years ago.

Couple months ago I also hear that Ethereum is gonna be a storng competitor to Bitcoin. This days it is growing fast and people are saying that if to invest in Ethereum today it will bring first profit very soon. Like it was with bitcoin - people who took a risk and invested a lot in Bitcoin in the beginning are became millionares today.

Bitcoin is original, first and the biggest cryptocurrency. I won't change anytime soon.

Ethereum is a interesting project of a skilled developer, but it is not only a coin.

It is more like decentralized software platform that enables Smart Contracts and Distributed Applications to be created and run within its blockchain.
 
This remarkable feature caused ETH to become 2nd biggest altcoin - with market cap a lot higher than old altcoins like Litecoin or Doge.

I think the Ethereum has better development community and big company support. Both the IBM and Microsoft support it.

I think Ethereum could become a viable altcoin at some point but it needs to mature first and that might take a while. The problem is that the guy who 'hacked' the DAO didn't actually break any laws, he merely took advantage of a flaw in the code. While what he did may not have been ethical, the devs should really have taken full responsibility from their mistake.

The following advantages of btc makes it much more superior over etherum.
1. bitcoin network is more secured than etherum. recently, eth network was hacked which proved that it is very less secured.
2. bitcoin is stable for over 6+ years while etherum is just another new altcoin.
3. majority of people use btc and believe me, there are still many bitcoiners who dont even know about etherum.
4. bitcoin is accepted by most of the online sellers while etherum has yet not reached that level.

Agreed! not just a mother but also a Supreme Master of all altcoins in crypto currency. Ethereum was also a cloned by bitcoin, bitcoin is more popular than ethereum and it has a big community than eth.

Because bitcoin is not in under control by parties. and about big company support, i think bitcoin also have a company is supporting bitcoin, like if a company is accepting bitcoin it's same means they're supporting bitcoin too.

This is totally cleared about the different between Bitcoin and Ethereum. I have no more to reason out about it. I found out that Bitcoin all in all is much more stable, it has fame already and most trusted by the bitcoin community.

At the moment, Ethereum. Currently the hard fork problem (Between ETH and ETC) has caused alot of trouble, on top of the DAO hack (Which ironically originally caused the former.) I don't see a reason to choose Ethereum at the moment.

Bitcoin is and has been the king if all cryptocurrencies. It isnt worth comparing it to anything else

Every crypto needs time, not only Ethereum. Digital currencies are totally new concept of money and can expand our horizons even beyond payment processing functionality.
Which ETH already did and Bitcoin will follow it in the future. If you are new to crypto, invest in Bitcoin, don't focus on lesser altcoins.

Ethereum might be number 2, but discrepancy in popularity and market cap of ETH and BTC is enormous.

In my opinion bitcoin better than ETH because there are not issue in bitcoin about hacking and bitcoin more older than ETH, bitcoin has big volume transaction than ETH and it is becoming the benchmark currency in altcoins trading.

I think you should have to compare ethereum with some other altcoin, as it is unable to compete bitcoin, bitcoin is much higher in compare to ethereum not only in value but in demand also. according to my views ethereum will remain only to certain parts of the world while bitcoin is going to become a global currency.

That is right. The bitcoin is the reserve or the base currency in the digital world. It is the most popular one.

most of the people who say ethereum with bitcoin are those who want to pump it up to liquidate their open sell order walls. and if you pay attention and put the dates of the most activity these people have together with the state of the price you can see what i mean.

hint: they are almost inactive while price is at the bottom and they are accumulating for the pump :)

yeah but not because it is the first like many think, but because every other alt it's just a copy paste in the end lol, until they design a coin that do not run on a blockchain they are always copying bitcoin

For me eth is good anyhow, but still bitcoin is better than eth. And we know that from the very start. BItcoin has a good benefits and advantage for the users here in bitcoin world.  Aside from that many of the investors are more investing into it.

Bitcoin is much more stronger and popular than ethereum and bitcoin is available acceptable  in everywhere in the world and bitcoin transaction is very faster and bitcoin is very good currency for investment there is a lot of people investing their money in huge amount in bitcoin and get a good profit from bitcoin.

The bitcoin is more popular than the Etheruem without doubt. But its transaction is much slower than Etheruem.

One thing ethereum has going for it is the fact that you can adjust transactions and reverse things you are not pleased with.

in my opinion bitcoin and ehter are most comparable digital currency while the rate of ether is in bitcoin so . Bitcoin is father of etherium .

The bitcoin is very important for us all and I think that its a very profitable coin, I think its better than Ethereum but that its also a good one.
The bitcoin is way too big and due to that it will also win.

I personally see ETH to be the better one actually. Smart contract is one of the vital feature of ETH in fact a lot of new coins today uses this feature as well and that makes ETH useful while its demand continues to rise as well due to it.

Yes. Like they always said Bitcoin is too huge to fail. Coins that fail is not happening over night of course. Its just like the rest of the coin, if people supports it the coin's price won't collapse over night, it gradually happen as people holds it hoping the price will retrace.

bitcoin is the main currency of all of the altcoins so bitcoin is better than ethereum and most of people using bitcoins and it has many benefits and trade easily.

i only have 1 ethereum in my wallet, and i only wait for the increase price for the ethereum. and i will prefer to stay with bitcoin and make money with bitcoin. and i think its a good time if we want to buy and hold ethereum while we waiting the good price at least in the price of 0.023 like before.

Bitcoin and ethereum have different features, both are unique and created for different purposes, I don't think they compete besides people trust more in bitcoin as a means to store value.

in this case im not sure if Ethereum can exceed Bitcoin even in the long term though and one thing Bitcoin keep rising for a long term I believe that..In Bitcoin we Trust ;)

In my eyes the Bitcoin will win, I just have this feeling, its better and also better in my eyes but this is also a matter of taste that I' having.
ETH is also not bad but I do not think that it can hold it for a long time.
