Title: If our account is hacked, can we get it by secondary password?
Post by: RichDaniel on September 10, 2016, 07:36:06 AM
Hi, I saw the news that a hacker hacked the database and sells the 400k pw for 1 BTC in dark net market.

I am afraid they steal my account, and I set the secondary password, and changed the old password. If someone hacks my account in one  day, can i recover my account with secondary password?

The unique way to recover an account is with a bitcoin signed message, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0 so make sure to post a bitcoin address (for example here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0)) here somewhere in the forum (just in case, to use it as proof).

What redsn0w said is true but whaddya mean by 'secondary password'? If you're talking about the security question then it's best not to use it because it's easier to break (according to theymos) and can get your account locked for security.
