Doubt he will kick out the american troops. He is just using it to move closer to china. And push away criticism of his war on drugs. Nothing to do with past american abuses in the philippines. Besides if he went through with it the americans might suddenly find out there is oil in there.

I really doubt whether he will be able to move closer to China. There is a major territorial dispute between China and the Philippines (over Scarborough Shoal) and the Chinese are unlikely to ally with the Filipinos unless they gave up their claims on that island.

It is American not Jewmerican, I think. :P  He is the President so he have the right to decide for that.  But I am afraid that by doing things like that the US will no longer help the Philippines if China make war against the Philippines.  No one will help since US is the only country I think who always extends its help to countries who were in war.

i guess every country in asia will move closer to China soon. Because, China is the most powerful country in asia. Philippines are doomed to do that. Because of that rapprochement , United States will have found some oil in Philippines in near future.

There is oil, no doubt about that. What it comes down to is policy. He wants to have something he will be known for. And this is his legacy. Russians already acknowledged him, soon China will acknowledge him. Every president in the past have a legacy they are known for.

President Duterte wants only to give some space from the Moro People because of the massacre of the American Soldier during the time of invading the Philippines. Some Moro people hates American because of imperialist in Manila. The war is still old century ago. And he wants to end this hatred has he is in the office.
