Title: Would you vote for a possible president that support Bitcoin?
Post by: Kprawn on September 18, 2016, 01:36:06 PM
I was thinking, if a candidate of another party supported Bitcoin, would you change your normal vote to support that candidate or will you

stay with your original choice or the party you usually vote for?  How strongly do you feel about Bitcoin? Strong enough to switch votes?

How much weight does this add to the final decision you have to make at the voting stations? Let's see, if you would switch and why.  ;)

I like the topic yes i will change my voting party if he don't support bitcoin or any technological advances and will vote to one who support. Its better to have a leader who thinks development of any country lies under being up to date on technological aspects as well as trying to be not dominated by other countries currency.

So "IF a candidate supports Bitcoin" carry enough weight for you to ignore other aspects of his or her views on things? Let's say this

person supports the death sentence or they support abortion, and you are against that, would Bitcoin weigh enough for you to still make

that same decision to switch vote, or to vote for that person? Heavy decisions to chose between... right?

Will definitely switch. if i have a lot of bitcoin i may even launch a campaign for this candidate to win. this is going to be an advantage for all of us users as it will help its price go up.  But then again, politicians are politicians they'd do whatever it takes to get votes.

I won't vote president candidate only because he/she support bitcoin, i still have to look other aspect such as his/her views, what will he/she do after become president and many more.
Better vote for best president for majority people and convince he/she to support bitcoin.

I think president will not support bitcoins as they want to control the money and bitcoin does not support centralize controlling

even if a president wanted to do it they'd keep their mouths shut. these people are kept afloat by corporate interests. these interests don't align with what bitcoin stands for. but even if they did support it, i'd want to see what else they were bringing to the table.

Well for me if that running president supports bitcoin, in my side I will vote for him because its a big opportunity that a president support bitcoin and cryptocurrency which is if he will win, bitcoin will implemented as one of payment method in that country even in phtsical stores and because of this bitcoin price will hike until it reach for how many US dollors much higher than before but there are also some bad effects for this, because as we already know bitcoin is the payment method in the black market so the government will oppose to him, and maybe he will not win because of this, but even my vote is for him.

It wouldn't sway my vote just because he/she supports or does not support bitcoin. It has positive benefits either way. Bitcoin support would more than likely translate into a swift spike in the price and therefor be a negative to anyone still wishing to purchase at a low price and willing to wait it out until this inevitably happens. Lack of support would be the exact opposite and give the folks who don't mind waiting time to increase their holdings and maximize profits.

Not really tbh.

What is the purpose?

I would only vote for someone that is a good leader for the nation. Things like taking action physically helping the people while fighting against enemies if there was a threat. Cred is the name of the game

Money alone isn't something that inspires me to vote.

I am not against Bitcoin, maybe it has a future...idk. It just seems funny to me...A president promoting Bitcoin...unless the Pres was going to permenantly shut down the government then it would make sense for him to do that...

I wouldn't be suprised if that happened

101% I will support the candidate who has policies which are in favor of bitcoin's growth. Unfortunately, this will not be possible in my country as here politicians are illiterate and very rarely do announce technical things in pre - election campaigns.

and not the candidate who only carry bitcoin world as their personal interests and only to increase their popularity

this depends on many many things.
if the candidates have the same opinion, but one is supporting bitcoin and the other is not, then this is a nobrainer for bitcoin.
the other extreme is jesus vs hitler and hitler suports bitcoin, jesus not. sorry bitcoin then.
the rest is somewhere in between, but i would be more worried about the candidate keeping the promise afterwards.

When I first read your question I think right away I definitely choose to vote for the president who support bitcoin. But I think again and remember that the media said if Donald Trump become the president of the United State, bitcoin will get a huge advantage. But I don't wanna vote for him, even if it's good for bitcoin. I want Hilary Clinton to become the president and if I can I will vote for her.

I don't know why you would want to immediately swap to a president that supports Bitcoin, as that would likely only bring about taxation and likely wouldn't be a net-benefit for people overall. It would just be another way for the government to get easy money, under the guise of being a beneficiary.

Also I don't know why you'd want Hillary if you know everything she's done, especially considering Trump has an immensely cleaner record.

Yes, I would vote too. But I don’t believe a candidate would promise it because it needs agreements with many organizations that are against.

That depends, cause a President should promise glory and prosperity to their country by promoting trade and other activities as well and not just Bitcoin. If the candidate supports Bitcoin but has other negatives, he/she would not be worthy of my vote. It all depends on the overall pro's and con's of their visions and strengths as well as weaknesses.

People are crazy nowadays... Voting for a president just because bitcoin?
Politic have a lot of aspects you have to watch and learn, and that's why the world is a messy, people don't give a sh1t and put anyone in command.

I'm not a single issue voter, so it would seriously depend on who the candidate is, what else they stood for and how trustworthy, (relatively,) I viewed them to be. Especially given this and the last several elections, where anyone with a conscience should vote for who they think is the least destructive, shiniest of a selection of only turd candidates.

Bitcoin would be in a very bad shape if it required support by a president. If that was the case, Bitcoin would have become like fiat and it would be senseless to vote for it.

Of course a president that would promote Bitcoin use across the nation would be a plus. However, because Bitcoin does not depend on that support, it is equally important to take into consideration the candidate's opinions on other political matters as well. Assuming that a potential president that supports Bitcoin is likely on the libertarian side of the political spectrum there are high chances that he/she would be the preferred choice for me.

But I can only reinforce my statement that Bitcoin must remain fully functional as a decentralized currency without political support. That's the whole point of Bitcoin: Money independent of centralized control, because - as we can see these days again - power is abused sooner or later.

ya.ya.yo!

That's not enough reason to support someone as a President. Yeah it may affect my decision but not that much.

I care more about general economic situation and world peace. Without those bitcoin doesn't mean a shit. Look at Europe. Refugees fucked everywhere up. And it is just Syria. Check the world map and see how many countries are there like Syria. If those people start to abandon their homes. We are all doomed.

NO. The worst way Bitcoin can go is being handled by governments. What are you voting your president for right now? I'm telling you - you're voting for them because you can't have another choice. And even if you do, a vote more or less won't change anything. Bitcoin being appreciated by governments means future taxes and such things. They can find a way to fully control it, you never know what idea they got.

Although he supports Bitcoin , one person can't do important changes in Bitcoin acceptance , Bitcoin needs support from a financial companies , not from political persons , so I won't change my vote because some fields (like fighting against racism and respecting every human) are more important than Bitcoin.

I would not solely vote for a president, simply because he or she supports Bitcoin. That being said, I do believe the Bitcoin topic is an important one to talk about, since Bitcoin has the prospect of being the currency of the future, and it should be getting much more press then it has been in the media. It would be awesome if the Bitcoin topic would be one of the questions asked in the upcoming Presidential debates, and I would love to hear the nominees' opinions on the matter.

I agree, I have to state the obvious that the people who want bitcoin promoted from the President just want to be in early at the train station. I can't really blame them on that perspective though with the bigger view -the nation needs more than money to keep it from standing.

In conclusion; there isn't any other reason for Bitcoin to be promoted, I mean c'mon if the Government wanted the Dollar-2.0 then they would have done it already. Who knows, they could just make a totally new currency this year...who knows

Whats the point to vote into a president that support bitcoin, i just thinked if such support he wanna to regulate it, and bitcoin doesnt need those, make people pay high fees to trade bitcoin or altcoins would be insane, atleast i do believe we will get pissed with such act. For other side if the person has a vision with bitcoin and recognize bitcoin as money and just regulate it without any tax, only if someone wanna to exchange it to fiat i do believe it will be amazing.

I don't know, but i don't wanna for giving my vote into the president is supporting bitcoin, it's not just about supporting bitcoin but it's about a lot of regulate and the civilian's life. because maybe it's just a campaign for catch sympathy.

In my mind, i don't need the president is supporting bitcoin or another like that, but i just need giving a freedom into their civilians.

I don't think so,if a candidate is planning to support Bitcoin when he gets elected maybe I will think about voting him,but in the end I will go with my original choice.Bitcoin is important but not so much to make me change my opinion about this and waste my vote, after all, I don't believe it needs any politician's support.

Well, it still depends in his leadership on his past experience. I won't vote a candidate just because he supported something that only a few would be benefited by his law, in fact I would vote a candidate who's willing to change and govern his country for the better, not only for those people who's acting selfishly. Bitcoin is only a part of our life since it poked our interest about it because it is the future money but I think it is wrong if you'll vote a candidate just because of this thing, this only one thing. I think it is more better if we know the person who are we going to vote more than we know bitcoin.

I think I wont change my vote because of the president candidate want to support bitcoin, the first reason is i dont know whether the candidate is just looking for support or really want to develop bitcoin, the second reason, i afraid after getting approval by the president there will be a lot of rules regarding to bitcoin, so in my personal opinion i dont really like government meddle up in bitcoin

I think I am not going to vote either for me who ever is the one that is going to try to adopt bitcoins or support well that is going to be in our favor.

But still I don't think that a president is going to support bitcoin either it is better the way bitcoin is anonymous and it is just being discovered by a lot of people.

And if so a president is going to support bitcoin, I don't think so that he is saying a true promise but only sweet promise.

But i doubt about that if that is just more in their campaign, but different in the real because too many a lot of candidate is always throwing the sweety statement in to the community. but just giving a vote into the president is giving appreciate into bitcoin and community and not making a strict regulate for their civilians about using bitcoin/ and that is will useless just giving the vote into the president is supporting bitcoin but in real their are making a strict regulating about using bitcoin for their civilians. we are need candidates is are not just throwing a bullshit statement.

Is this a trick question? ;D

To be honest I think it will depend on who the candidate is. If the candidate supports Bitcoin but he is known to be corrupt, stupid or incompetent then why would I vote for him just because of that? The future of the country should not depend solely on because he supports or not supports "X". Your vote should go to the candidate who will look out for the welfare of your country's citizens. Voting for someone just because he "supports Bitcoin" will be stupid on your part as a voter.

No, there are so many consideration to vote a candidate, just because the possible president support bitcoin it doesn't mean i'll vote him or her, there are so many aspects that we must thinking carefully before vote them, however he/she that support bitcoin might be a good candidate as we can see he/she support the new technology which is a good point for them but back to the point besides they support the bitcoin there are many aspects that we must consider also.

Yes I love bitcoin as a technology and I want everyone in my country (and all over the world) should use it. I am well wisher of bitcoin but the answer for your question is No. I won’t choose a president just for the sake of one factor (no matter how that factor is deadly affect able for me). President of a country should be like master in everything, I would see foreign policies approach, previous records, business approach, political views, capabilities, intellectuality etc while casting my vote in favor of him and not on the single factor.

I don't think so. changing vote because the candidate supporting bitcoin is not a strong reason for me. a president should be able to lead a country even he doesn't support bitcoin. what if the candidate supports bitcoin but he's not able to lead a country? it's not good. I do not believe most of the shit coming from politicians. When there is a election, they will say anything to get into power and once they are there, they will bend over to the powers who backed them in their campaign. The amount of money dumped into these election campaigns are enough to provide water for a few years for most small countries. In the end, these presidents are only a rubber stamp for the power and money behind them. ^hmmmm^

Even if the presidents who don't support bitcoin gets elected, bitcoin is the curreny of the future and they will be forced to accept it. So it wouldn't change my opinion on a president.
No, bitcoin will depends on the government as if they will support it or making their own cryptocurrency just like other country which they will create own digital currency to circulate in their country and they will not let bitcoin enter to the people in their jurisdiction.
I don't also agree that bitcoin will be the future currency ,bitcoin will remain as cryptocurrency next to bitcoin which more use on online stores .
