Title: I propose as name for the smallest bitcoin unit: mic (micro cent)
Post by: allocater on June 13, 2011, 08:54:16 AM
The common names are:
10-2: cent
10-3: milli
10-6: micro
10-9: nano

The smallest bitcoin is 10-8

So we do 10-6 * 10-2
= micro * cent
= mic

I currently have 0.00875801 bitcoins, so 875,801 mics!

I am almost a mic millionaire!

and 1 mic million = 1 cent (0.01000000)

Some people already use 'mike' to mean 1 µBTC.

The name "satoshi" is already in common use as the name of the smallest bitcoin unit.

As in, "I paid 140 satoshis for my house." :)

One millibitcoin (a "Millie") is 0.001 BTC.
One microbitcoin (a "Mike") is 0.000001 BTC.
The base unit (0.00000001 BTC) is a "Satoshi".

These names are unofficial but have some actual usage. I feel it would be confusing to call a "Mic" a micro-bitcent rather than a micro-bitcoin.

yeah you should'nt use cent as that is abreviation for 100, as in 100 cent in dollar no ?  either way it has too much connotation with current currency

my suggestion microbit or microcoin ?

microsatoshis will be able to be implemented when Bitcoins hit 200K~USD . If BTC turns bitcoin millionares then it's a nobrainer!~lol  8) easy!

I second this idea! I will start using mic units around the forum to try to get it to catch on :D. Good idea.

I have to agree with the other users, this is a bit too confusing.
