Sure. The website is trying to calculate what the winner will get. 99%. I'm wondering now would it be better to not do that and just show the whole pool? 100%

No, not at all - I think it is a good thing, that the site displays the "winning amount"

But I just didn't get it. Maybe you could add the info, that this is the pot minus the lottery fee.

You could also display the total amount of tickets sold or the winning odds respectively.

So far we are over 40 BTC. 42 BTC to be exact. Worth about $500 right now but I'm still thinking we could hit one that's over 1,000 USD. I hope.

A month is so long to wait. I hope this idea becomes more popular to the point where we can draw once a week or something :)

ME TOO!! I think sometime soon I may experiment trying every two weeks...the problem is that there may not be enough players yet. By increasing the frequency I'm going to hurt the jackpot a bit.

You might want to re-check that math!  ;) I can't imagine any scenario where you can guarantee a win other than buying all the tickets yourself and I know you didn't do that!

Out of curiosity has anyone publicly talked about their winnings?

Only one, username: 1fyll - they registered that name after the win so it could have been someone using another name here....they picked that name because that's the address I HAD to pay to based off of the transaction hash...I really don't know much about who they really are though. (other than they have over 2,000 USD worth of BTC at current prices!)

The other winner never announced themselves, so who knows who it was.
One announced and one didn't. I'm kind of hoping someone wins who is already registered and is willing to say they won.

I think a lot of people here value privacy. Sometimes I think people don't want to play other lotteries because their name shows up everywhere that they won money. That's what makes BitLotto unique. Even though it's anonymous I can't manipulate the results making myself be the winner. It's all based off of the hash of the transaction and I have to send it back to the exact wallet that send that transaction. That allows me to operate so everyone can be anonymous YET still demonstrate that the rightful person got the winnings.

I know, I was just explaining mostly for other people reading. It's pretty much the first lottery that allows players and winners to be anonymous and still have no cheating! It's very unique.

Would everyone like having the price to be 0.25/ticket next month or do you want it lower? (It's a fine line between number of players vs price and how it effects total jackpot)

I personally think .25 is just about perfect for the price, yes you will see more action at .1 each, but I don't think you will see 250% more action to make up the difference.

Maybe have 2 lotteries.  A "high roller" .25 and a .1 game running simultaneously (although this might backfire)

I have thought about it, but ya, I think I'll just end up splitting the players. For now I'll leave it I think and as I grow open a NEW game.  ;) My main appeal now is the large jackpot and my inability to rig the lottery.

Edit - Never mind.
After much thought I'm going to just refund any ticket that is below the price. Any overpayment will just have the change sent back.

Oh, and before my PM box fills with people claiming they are the ones who overpaid I only refund back to that exact same address that send the payment. So no one can scam any BTC.

Tiny change: late payments instead of going to the winner are just returned. It's sometimes hard to predict if your transaction will get held up so it will probably encourage more to play who wait till the end. A small fee is taken off if late to return it in case of transaction fees but it's better than before when it would just go to the winner!

Instead of changing the ticket price I think you would get more players if you had more than just the jackpot to a single winner. Something like a grand prize of 50% to one winner, five winners who get to split 25% and the last quarter of the pot to 25 more players. I'm sure that with a distribution like that you'd get enough players to keep the grand prize at least as large as in the current round.

Since all players send using Bitcoin running on their computer I can return the winnings the sending address whose transaction won. This means that it's impossible for the wrong person to get the winnings. Everyone can see that the winnings go to the sender. If that makes sense. Anyways, checking your sig I'd suggest you not play!  :)

Ya, even if it was a million US$ to win it would still be better odds. Although, I'd have to come up with software to find the winner. It would take me forever to do it manually.

So anyone think it's them that won? There could be a chance they don't know they won till the payment just shows up on their account. I'll probably re-check everything again and send the payment Friday.
