Safe. Great wallet. I use it all the time now as the "Satoshi" client is so darn slow. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: lakeluke on April 01, 2013, 03:44:41 PM I have used flexcoin.com since 2011 and never had any issues with them; you also gain some "profit" a small % per year just like a savings account ( they share out the transaction fees proceeds)
Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: NABiT on April 01, 2013, 03:47:21 PM +1 for blockchain.info
Pity about the UK deposits ceasing but still a great wallet. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: strikegold on April 01, 2013, 03:48:38 PM i use blockchain.info but will explore more wallets in the near future :)
Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: DannyHamilton on April 01, 2013, 03:48:51 PM The ONLY web based wallet I would recommend is https://blockchain.info/wallet
As far as I know that is the only web hosted wallet that allows you to maintain control of your private keys. If I am mistaken on that fact, I'd appreciate knowing what other web hosted wallets provide you with sole control of your private keys. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Why are we always 20 -30 yrs behind US?? It was possible via bank transfer or Barclay's Pingit but stopped last week indefinitely, yet to find out why. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: DannyHamilton on April 01, 2013, 04:26:29 PM What is the advantage of having a Web wallet over a client? What is the advantage of a lightweight client (such as Electrum or MultiBit) over a web hosted wallet? Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Instawallet is not as secure, and the others are to new. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: deadweasel on April 01, 2013, 07:57:16 PM http://blockchain.info Instawallet is not as secure, and the others are to new. Caveat here: Put a small % of your BTC in online hot wallet. The rest 90% goes into a cold offline wallet. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: ThomasV on April 01, 2013, 07:59:52 PM I heard instawallet is really hot at the moment. check it out!
edit: of course I was not serious. I do not recomment any web wallet. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Flexcoin announced a security breach today, Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: Aztec on April 02, 2013, 09:38:35 AM Thanks guys. Still as clear as mud haha j/k
Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: Jace on April 02, 2013, 09:51:43 AM I use an offline wallet for savings (for max security, not taking any risk with my money) and blockchain.info/wallet for spare change because it just works so very simple and user friendly. And still reasonably safe.
Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: virtualmaster on April 02, 2013, 10:08:40 AM only blockchain.info

Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: BurtW on April 02, 2013, 04:08:55 PM Thanks guys. Still as clear as mud haha j/k Please ask a more specific question. To be clear:Point your favorite (modern) browser to http://blockchain.info/wallet Press the big blue button which says "Start A New Wallet" Set up an alias or "name" for your wallet, perhaps "Aztec" Come up with a good password - REMEMBER IT! Type in the Captcha Press the continue button Continue to follow the instructions. If you have any questions post them here. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? The "haha j/k" is an indication of sarcasm, meaning that the previous statement "still clear as mud" is the opposite of the poster's feelings on the matter. Title: Re: What Web Wallet do you recommend? Post by: whiskers75 on April 02, 2013, 04:20:34 PM blockchain.info BECAUSE:
* Your wallet is not accessed by blockchain.info in any way, it's all done by downloading javascript to your browser, which then opens the *ENCRYPTED AND NOT ACCESSED* wallet from blockchain.info. * It's lightweight * It has a nice API (I'm a developer :)) * It's the easiest bitcoin wallet ever * It's responsive ..... and so on. Post by: DannyHamilton on April 02, 2013, 06:26:41 PM If only there were some sort of consensus or answer that a significant number of people all agreed on. It's so confusing when there are so many different answers.
