I just voted:' Maybe... What's the price??'

The idea of a Bitcoin Monopoly game sounds funny. Think that the most of us played some games in the past. For the right price and it will sell like cookies. Will keep watching this thread for future sneak peeks.

Is this for a physical board game, or something played online? Is it going to be like Monopoly (to avoid license infringement) or do you mean having the game produce by Hasbro like the billion different Monopoly (insert theme) editions?

I enjoy monopoly, but I have a hard time finding someone else to sit down for a couple of hours to play. None of my friends or family like me enough to stick around long enough to play.

;D  I echo those sentiments.  Perhaps a few public games of online Monopoly would help spur more interest and ideas for this project?

How are you planning to ship these to other countries?

Wouldn't the shipping be expensive?

Looks like a good idea..my only issue is that it Monoply takes a very long time to complete.

You might want to have a bonus where people get more BTC if they make their move within "X" amount of time.

Id buy one and who care if its copyright infringement, make 100 or 200 of them, sell them on the forum using a shill account and let us have our fun. Id play it every day i swear.

A physical Bitcoin monopoly board game would definitely be something I would purchase. I have enjoyed playing monopoly for years from family times to a 6hr game with the Misses (and some beers!)

Just imagine the properties like owning 3 exchanges and charging X trading fee when someone lands on one of them!

i would love the idea, but you should call it something else cuz monopoly will sue you

Better yet, when you land on an exchange, you have to put money into it, and every turn there is an X% chance that it gets "hacked" and you lose all of your money. Would be pretty realistic.

Haha, I like it!  This would indeed be an interesting game for bitcoiners.   :)

Interesting!!

I immediately though about the possibilities.. Maybe include the real Bitcoin system in it in some way? Stamp the boards in the real blockchain? Use real satoshis as play money?

Good luck!

Definitely an interesting concept and I'd love to purchase one... the only problem would be looking for people to play with.  Just please don't make the prices too high compared to the original Monopoly game ;)
I'm also interested in an online version of "Bitcoin Monopoly".  Would be a great thing to have around, maybe a game every weekend.

Even if i am not such a fan of Monopoly, i would purchase a...BTC-poly for sure!!!

Its a funny and easy way to spread the word of BTC.

Some "ideas" for Properties...Exchangers, pools, mining rigs / farms, trading platforms, faucets, gambling and lending sites...
I remember that you need to buy all the same color properties, in order to "build". So, its color is one of the above with at least 3 places to put same category things.... ::)

For the chances, i have no clue (lol) but for Chest cards you can put from a HYIP scam site to a difficulty of mining ;D

I wish you the best and i hope to hear news for this real soon.

Btw, you should start crowdfunding this... 8)

The problem with making your board game is it often ends up unbalanced... and people except Bitcoiners may not be that interested in playing it.

Tbh, a monopoly clone with the exact same property values (or all property values scaled), but Bitcoin themed would be pretty amazing.
Maybe GO could be a faucet, and different properties could be different BTC Websites.
The chance/community could have either getting hacked and losing money, or accidentally being sent money.

I like board games, and monopoly was one of my favorite games when I was young.
Maybe, how much is the price is what I wish to know.
This can be good idea, there is many things you need to think about. Probably main problem is security, everyone need tobbe safe with their money.
I think this is great, monopoly for bitcoins, for satoshis, that is interesting. For Geneva 45 000 satoshis, or 0.45 mbtc.

I am looking for a name for this game.......   please comment and I will add to the OP.
We can vote soon.

So far I have these:
1) Decentralized
2) Satoshiless
3) Cryptopoly
4) Cryptocracy
5) ???

I'd go with Satoshiless. If you are intending to move this game far enough away from Monopoly that it isn't copyright infringement, keeping opoly at the end might not be a great idea. If the goal of the game is to leave your opponents Satoshiless, that would be my vote.

Do you like board games?
Do you like bitcoin?

Well..... then come vote and see if we can get this made into a real game for all of us!!!

Will post more information soon.

Would also like input as to what the properties should be named and also what the chance and community chest cards should have on them

Custom tokens may also be available once it goes into production.

Please leave any comments or suggestion!! :D

Thanks

How about a game like shoots and ladders.....

Roll dice ...move the number of spots....land on something good ..move up the ladder to the next row or 2
Land on something bad , slide down the shoot to a lower row or 2.... This could be a Bitcoin History lesson too..with good and bad coin producers, mining equipment Co., Gambling sited and even members of this forum.

I really dont know what name it fits the most, imo it depends from a lot of things... ::)
The game will include and other coins except BTC? Or references for other coins?
The purpose of this game is to educate also new ppl in crypto and maybe attract more in to it?

So i will go and say something more general and "catchy", like "Game of Coins" or perhaps "Crypto Empires".

I suppose Non-opoly would be out ;-)
Maybe you could get a license to base the game off of Monopoly...

https://www.google.com/#q=how+to+get+a+license+for+monopoly

It could be fun to name the properties, and build the community chest.

The Rich Dad franchise once  had a game out called "The Rat Race" maybe something that adds those elements?

This game cant resemble Monopoly in so too many ways that it would never be a true bitcoin monopoly unless you want to get sued.
Monopoly is protected by a plethora of US trademark registrations. Of course, a trademark registration does not grant the owner a true monopoly. But it does grant a powerful swath of rights to the owner.

This would have to be a new game from the get go and cant incorporate the same or even similar look.

This is a great idea.  Im definately a buyer when the set comes out.  Actually a good way to introduce btc to kids too.  Sometimes its hard finding an avenue to do that and products/ideas like this will help it along.
