Title: Poloniex, the worst exchange online.
Post by: mexicantarget on October 10, 2016, 08:57:03 AM
I wouldn't advise you hold any funds on poloniex, for a simple reason.

http://prntscr.com/crzjny

I've been waiting since 6am to send some bitcoin to my faucet, it's 11 am currently, and its status is still "Pending approval".

0.27x BTC.

This has happened many times, for smaller withdraw amounts, such as $12.

So, when I complained, they told me I need to confirm/verify my account. So I did. They rejected it, even I gave my real info.

Are they insolvent?
Are they forcing people to give their private information just for fun?
This is not professional behavior. Their mods are simply there to spam the "warning" messages, and tell you "Verify your account in order to have faster withdraws".

Not sure what the heck is going on, but I know one thing for sure. I'm going to withdraw all my altcoins and bitcoin from their exchange and never use it again.

I have to hold some funds on an exchange/hot wallet, because I need to have quick access to funds from anywhere in order to top up my websites.

I have experienced this kind of problem before but it was sorted out after I send a message on their support. I guess you have to wait a little longer as I am sure there should be a little problem or misunderstanding on your part and polo.

Anyway, if others will also testify that they have the same problem that as not solve, maybe you might be right but so far you are the first member I saw who made complain. Good luck to you and hope your problem will be solve soon..

Well, it's been happening constantly, that's the issue. This is like the 7th time this month, where I have to wait for 1-10 hours in order to get my coins out.
I contacted support/mods in chatbox, but all they tell me is verify my e-mail and add 2FA.. lol.

I am using Polo for quite some time now and never experienced this, neither for small amounts (~1-2$), neither for bigger amounts ~100$.
If this helps at all, I did a withdraw this morning (a little over 0.06BTC) and it went out smoothly.
But it's very strange what happened to you. Even if it was a bug, they had enough time to check and send you your money..... thanks for the warn.

The thing which pisses me mostly is:

This started happening like 2 weeks ago. First time was $12. I wasn't in a big rush, so I didn't pay attention.
Second time $50. Asked a mod to check what's up. he told me to verify my account (Which I already had verified like 3 weeks before first withdraw).
Another time it was under 30 bucks, can't remember, waited 12 hours. They told me to verify my account, again.

So, this has happened at least 6-7 times, and all they're telling me constantly is to verify my account, which I've done.
Not sure if they're trolling or what.

This may be related to either your location, either the amounts you are dealing with.
Maybe your account got flagged or something.

I've never had to verify my account or anything. I have 2FA, I have to enter it also at withdraw, and I have the e-mail I have to answer. Then all goes through in a few minutes.
But I use Polo for trading, not for keeping money at hand. If you don't trade, maybe using a wallet could be better (and you know that online wallets and exchanges are not the best place to keep money, right?)

I've read all that. What I wrote was because:
* it may be suspicious for Polo if you keep money there and don't trade / use their services.
* Blockchain or Xapo or others may be of help for you
* a wallet on your phone could be an even better solution (I know, I know, it's not an online service, but your phone is with you everywhere, I guess..)

And about the warning, while I can assume you know what you do, I think it's good to post it now and then. It's not only you and me reading this.

Well use blockchain.info or bittrex to hold funds. It is always a good idea to spread your coins around as the exchanges keep failing like ninepins.

A few days ago my Polo account was logged in from another country, actually 2 countries. I didn't give my login accounts to anyone nor logging in my account to other computers except mine. My PC has anti-virus installed and nothing suspicious was installed to make my accounts compromised.
I was alerted in e-mail that I was logging in which is I'm not. It's a good thing that the alert includes the IP address where the account was logged in.
I was able to reached their support and instruct me to enable the 2FA.
Try to check your login history, maybe you can see something there that makes them to be strict in your account.

Yeah dude, that's crazy and shouldn't happen.  I have a polo account but I never really used them, I always used Yobit when I was in their sig campaign.  The withdrawals from Yobit were pretty much instantaneous, and only one time was a withdrawal suspended temporarily, and that was for Dash.  I'd dump polo if I were you, but I don't think they're pulling a Cryptsy--but you just never know with these places.

Experience that issue as well. and poloniex still consider themselves the best exchange for whatever reason a lot of traders do so.
That is why after withdrawing my funds, i never get to deposit there ever again and will never ever.

if we all guys do, let's see how quickly they'd add coins on their list.

It is his money that got stuck. Does he have to be a whale with thousand of BTC to see his withdrawal processed faster?
Everyone should be treated the same, it shouldn't matter if they have 0.1 or 1000 BTC.

Maybe Poloniex's withdrawals are stuck because AFAIK there was attack on bitcoin network today, a lot of unconfirmed transactions, mempool overload etc.

I dont think you understood me. What im trying to say is that poloniex is an exchange who regularly sees 10k+ btc volume and they're not going to try and scam someone for $150. The op is just panicking.

He should be panicked because holding your money for many hours and still no response from them I would be worried too, I had many withdrawal in the past on poloniex but it got approved after a minute or so but not hours.

In addition to the problems with withdrawals (heavily reminds me of my days at Cryptsy), I had also frequently experienced delays with receiving withdrawal confirmation emails. Once it took me about an hour to confirm my withdrawal, and I had to open a ticket at their support center. The support claimed that it was a problem with my email services. But they had been deliberately lying to me since from the email headers it was evident that the delay was at the exchange. I received this email a few moments after it had been sent by the Poloniex mail server. When I told them to check the email for themselves, they pretended that they didn't understand what I meant.

I personally never experienced this kind of issues (I'm a client on their platform since a few weeks only) and as far as I know (and from what I've seen moderators speaking) verification shouldn't be needed unless you want to rise limits. (It could make things faster too but It's nothing obligatory).
Other then that , I wouldn't be worried since the amount is too small (unless you see they are doing it for several people) . Keep in mind that Poloniex is the biggest exchange out there : https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/

Poloniex is the largest exchange only among exchanges that trade USD pairs with $23M trading volume daily. If you look for all exchanges, it will be only the sixth (https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/all/). Note the huge volumes that the Chinese exchanges operate with. The first two of them (OKCoin and Huobi) have volumes over 1 billion dollars daily for just two trading pairs (BTC/CNY and LTC/CNY).

First of all, who said it's a scam?
Second, the amount doesn't matter. It's been even lower, such as $12.

You people gotta get a new pair of glasses so you can read the damn OP with more attention.

Hello, I'm new to crypto and last week opened an acc with Poloniex.
I was wondering if anyone can help me get back into the site.
I'm getting "There’s a problem with this website’s security certificate"
notice and chrome won't let me enter the site.

Is there a ssl problem or poloniex has issues with their certificate provider?
