Title: Bitcoin Services is not Affected by Turkey Restricting Internet Access
Post by: Chronobank on October 10, 2016, 05:04:05 PM
It may only be a matter of time until the government turns its attention towards Bitcoin services.

Turkey Aims To Control The Internet, several major Turkish ISPs have adhered to implementing this online blockade: TTNet, Turkcell, and Uydunet are three of the country’s’ largest ISPS, all of whom restricted access to these services.

Smaller providers may still be able to access these services, although that may only be a matter of time.

A bigger question is whether or not the Turkish government will block access to Bitcoin platforms in the future.

The Turkish government can't block Bitcoin. Even the most restrictive regimes can't block bitcoin. It's only a few bytes to send a bitcoin trasnaction and it can be cloacked  in infinite ways (email, youtube, postal mail..)

Turkey government earlier blocked main social networks like Facebook, Twitter or Youtube and news sites. Last time they tried it was on July, when army tried to make revoliution.
But I can't imagine how they could block bitcoin services. There are no one or few services which they can block. There are many services and number of it is growing day by day. But if they will block few most popular services: well, people aren't stupid (especially who are using bitcoin) and they will find ways how to reach and use bitcoin services.

I guess the share of Turkey in BTC transactions is minimal. If they can ban social networks, it's clear they can hurt BTC. Hopefully, Turks will still be able to travel to Greece or Bulgaria to to enjoy BTC.

There's nothing good to expect from Erdogan.
