Title: I won 2 video cards in auction. How much will they hash for???
Post by: JsmintuckNeedawpsite on October 13, 2016, 03:08:38 PM
Litecoin

Ethereum

AMD XFX Radeon HD 6950 Graphics Card  and  Sapphire R9 270 2gb Dual-x

These will be in 2 separate computers. What can I expect in Mhs or Khs for each one?

I am curious to know.

Litecoin is Scrypt - you won't see enough earnings to pay squat out of ANY GPU-based rig due to the widespread deployment of ASIC devices for the last 3-4 years.

ETH  - not sure if your HD 6950 can even DO ETH, worth trying perhaps if it as 2GB or more RAM on it but I suspect the power consumption is going to rival the mining income on that old of a card, unless your power cost is VERY VERY cheap - the "this is only card in the machine" aspect makes that worse.

Since those cards are obsolete for mining ETH, I would recommend Monero mining for your equipment.

Sell them on ebay and buy a modern card.

They each will hash at 12.5-13.0MH/s mining ETH

For ETH mining If it's a 1GB  6950 ,then you are probably out of luck ....

If it's a 2GB 6950, then using AMD 14.4 drivers and the usual environment variables for 2GB cards will work, you can mine ETH with around 10-12 mh/s .

During mining , your 2GB 6950 will draw around 250watts ....

I hope you have  free power and I hope you next to nothing for them.

They are crazy power hungry .

You don't need older drivers, but the newest ones (RX) don't support the 6950. So use version 15.12

If your 6950 is 2GB then you can mine ETH at around 12.50-13.50MH/s depending how high you set your core clock. The card is 40nm technology so it uses 12.5W/MHS. So it will probably use around 175-200Watts. Not the most efficient but  still much more efficient than an Antminer S7.

The 270 will hash around the same speed but use a little less power. They usually draw about 10W/MHS. So it will use around 130-150Watts or so.
