Title: Antminer S7 and mining altcoins
Post by: plinuxx on October 13, 2016, 03:54:58 PM
Hy

So i was doing some research on mining rigs, profitability and so on. And after reading now for couple of hours i am pretty much confused. Can somebody please answer to the following questions :

1) Can i mine altcoins ( eth and ltc specifically) with ASIC mining technology ?

2) If I can cool :). So AntMiner S7 says the optimum hash rate is 4.7 Th/s or 4700 Gh/s. For reality sake we gonna say, fuck it lets cut that down for a half and presume his real hash rate is 2350 GH/s. When I enter this numbers in a calculator ( www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/ltc ) it says the following - 35.000 dollars per day for LTC. So im like  ??? Is this correct ?

3) And can somebody say whats the power consumption of AntMiner S7. It says 1400 W, but does anybody now how much power does it consume if it works 24 hours. 1.4 kW per day or more ?

tnx  :)

Belive it or not, but you can only mine SHA-256 coins with your S7. LTC is not a SHA-256 Coin.

oh dear, I had same question about 2-3 years ago when I heared about antminer and it's hashrate and that time I was newbie in mining. You can only mine SHA-256 coins with your antminer s7. Also imagine yourself, if that would be possible to mine LTC with it, than is people crazy to use it for bitcoin? Because you see the result with which you post, so answer in your wuestion is noo.

I hope you understand now and if you have more questions feel free to post here.
