Title: Ubuntu drivers
Post by: afarzin on June 13, 2011, 09:11:22 PM
I just had a look at this thread: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=3356.0 (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=3356.0) about driver installations. I'm about to build a system and my parts are in the mail still. I remember installing 11.04 on my laptop which also has ATI graphics and the autoupdate asked if I want to upgrade my drivers to the proprietary AMD ones. Would these be the same thing as following the instructions in the aforementioned thread?

If you're seariously interested in mining with Linux, I suggest you use BAMT (google search it).  It is a modified version of linux used just for mining alt-coins.  It's a great OS.  However, I have some problems with it:  undervolting doesn't seem to work.  I can still get more hash power with the same system using Windows.
