Title: How I Started getting BTC while poor
Post by: Me.Stab on October 16, 2016, 04:38:54 PM
When I first heard about Bitcoin I had no idea what it is. With little background in computer science most of it was over my head for a long time. I was very interested though I felt like it could turn into something big! My situation at the time limited my options. I had just recently got divorced and was having legal troubles and generally broke. So I did what most people do, I hit the faucets! After a few months of spending almost all my free time I had enough to deposit into an exchange and start trading! I of course decided on the ill fated cryptsy 😂! After many hours of hitting all types of faucets and making micro trades I was able to build my account to around $50 from a mere $.26. I than discovered Poloinex and migrated most of the major coins there. Shortly after cryptsy was hacked and I lost everything that was on there. I'm still going strong on Poloinex and have slowly been building my BTC as my situation has allowed. In short I hope this inspires anyone to pursue this if they are interested! Don't let anything stand in your way! All it takes is some time and willing to learn new things.

How much time did you spend on faucets to make $50?  I'm not too inspired yet.
How many sites that were advertised on those faucet sites did you go to?  How many advertised products did you actually purchase?  Do you even remember ONE advertiser?
I feel that faucet sites are merely a mechanism for laundering money stolen from advertisers.  The new faucet business model is shady and while I would like to see bitcoin being utilized by more people, I personally hope your post doesn't inspire anyone to pursue income from faucets.

The ads content on faucets are of user interest, relatively to what he searchs over the internet. It's the same ads you see when you access a news site, a online shop site, etc... And if you have interest on that ads you will click. I don't believe it's stolen money from advertisers. It's just a site advertising stuff and giving small rewards in BTC.

In a sense, the saying " Money makes Money " is very true for many people. It takes a very innovative mind and a hard working person

to fight against all odds to get to the top. Using faucets to get there, is only one step, albeit the worst step to take to get there. I would

have gone out and get a second job to buy my starter bitcoins, and then work from there. The faucet method is VERY slow and not very

effective. { Faucets are not FREE money }  ::)

I spent a few months of hitting different faucets and figuring everything out. I was working three jobs at the time so the only resources I had were my phone and some time. I would have rather just bought the BTC and gone straight to trading. This method is appropriate for people with no start up money or technical knowledge to mine etc. It could introduce it to the poor  that are able to have an internet connection through a phone or cafe etc.

So you haven't seen the myriad of poor already here farming accounts for sig campaigns and looking for faucets to pump?  Some of them cut and paste because their English is so bad.  Honestly, you don't need to promote your method.

It would be interesting if you could share how you have been slowly building from that 50 usd on poloniex. This is what may help others to do the same.

It is always nice to see some stories of building something out of nothing. It helps others to stay motivated in doing so!

Interesting story, and i appreciate your effort reaching 50USD through faucets can take a huge lot of time and effort, because when i was a starter spent alot of time faucting and collecting even 1USD was really difficult. But i will say you have still along way to go,sorry but this is nothing that special,i think as a computer science student you should provide some of your skills online like programming to increase your earning oportunities online.

If you have a hard work you can get your goal if you are just lazy you can not get any amount.. being a hardworker can give you a good result in the future.. the more you save or make profit after you build i hope that you can scale up so that you can not stay long in the computer once you get your goal.. always target your goal.. honestly if you are first timer collecting bitcoin that you earning it can push more your self  that you want to earn more.. but depends if what country you live.. i think for some poor countries those people are looking for extra income are willing to earn even a small amount from the start until they discover to earn more online that they can save for their future..

I'm going to have to ask you to clarify your statement... Do you mean to say your account was hacked on Cryptopia? As the owner of Cryptopia I can assure you that we have not been hacked and any claim otherwise is an outright lie.

Im a  little bit touched on your  story hence i was  a newbie  before  and do really have  a hard time   on achieving  and earning  bitcoin. Faucets would really give  us only small amounts  and  also  it would really take  time and effort  to earn with it and  im amazed  that you  able to grow your faucet earning  on some exchanges  which is  somehow a good way on inspiring some   people  with these kind  of situation.

My sincere apologies I ment Cryptsy. I also frequent your site and have a lot of admiration for what you have built. I heavily partook in some herbal recreation today so that's what I'm blaming the error on 😂

Op, I can't figure you out. Do you realize the amount of time you wasted sucking faucets and trading with peanuts? Instead you could just find a job.

Even the most useless job will bring you much more than faucet level of income, then - if you are really keen of cryptocurrency trading you could do it more efficiently.

edit: I misread that you lose your money in Bitfinex hack but it was actually Cryptsy. So I guess you won't see your money ever again...

Plus, your jobs must had been pretty much a disaster since you still preferred to earn bitcoin via faucets.

Do your math and stop wasting time. Also I heard that Bitfinex will be returning stolen money to its customers in the future. You still might receive your coins back.

$50 from faucet alone is a big achievement, considering the amount of time needed to reach that amount. 2 years back, when i was starting learning about bitcoins, also started doing some faucets spends 10-12 hours claiming, and promoting different faucets. and getting around 500,000 Sats per day from referral comm alone from many faucets. but now less people are doing faucets because some people are creating a false impression that faucets are not profitable anymore

Wrong impression is not created against faucets,it seems to be profitable to certain extent to the beginners but when they gain knowledge about digital currency as well bitcoin earning through faucets seems to be a waste of time, because the earning is not that good for the time spend upon faucets. So as few quoted trying for a day job is better.

Quote
you can get it with free such as joining the signature campaigns that only requires internet.
I see, you said you never pay your internet connection because it's free in your country? where do you live?
OP still newbie, your advice is useless here.

It all depends on what country your in, here at my place, the current daily minimum wage is $6.35 per day, for 8-5 job. so getting extra daily $$ from faucets daily is a good addition on top of the daily wage.

it was supposed to be an inspirational story and you guys spoiling it with your faucet good or bad discussions :)
the main idea is- do not sit on your hands, even if the odds are against you and you are poor
so happened that OP used bitcoins to get started,he earned 50$ starting from 0.26$,well done you
no sarcasm meant
there are some countries where 50$ is a relatively big sum of money, give man a break

For the most part faucets are a beginner's step to get yourself going.

In all honesty you take that money and put it somewhere to then wait for it to grow.

I wouldn't advise doing faucets forever, but as you said it's better to put it to work. As you claim from faucets there will be newer BTC opportunities over time resulting in a fresh way to get even more.

those 50$ must've taken a lot of time on faucets... I;d suggest you to stay out of faucets and not to invest into anything if you can't cover that loss in case of hacking, ponzi,etc.. I'd suggest you to rank up you account here and join a signature campaign. Also, you can head over to the marketplace>service section and check out the offers or you can offer your services if you've got to offer any in the first place.

it is easy to say when you have a starting capital or some skills,or even if your are just a native english speaker
when you are as poor as a mice (or OP) and have to start from scratch, faucets could be a viable start
BUT only if one has a clear plan what to do next, for example: I make 2$ from faucets, buy 1 month of shared hosting, create an affiliate marketing website with links, promote it using free methods such as this forum =profit
or any other scheme for that matter, what I like about OP post,he had a plan and enough patience to follow through
well done him and good luck

I agree with your reply, everything depends on which place or country you are living, in the poor country where the fiat conversion of bitcoin is high where even daily 2$ earning is also very good by doing side work on bitcoin apart from daily job is much more enough.

I started the same way with faucets and was happy that time till i came to know about this forum and its uses and now i am earning much more then my daily job pay.

I'm not poor but I'm not rich either. I'm just between them, and Bitcoin signature campaigns are a great opportunity for me at least. I can earn dozens of bucks a month which is great as a saving option.

That's pretty awesome man, an inspiring story indeed  :) Not sure people will be able to replicate your mindset but that you were able to do it at least proves that it is possible.
You did receive a little helping hand from fate though, if you hadn't move some of your coins to Polo, you would've likely lost everything. Anyways wish you continued success with your trading!  :)

I did a test before and i made a couple cents in 1 month worth of BTC with faucets..
And i also had referrers with it too.

$50 ? uhhh fuck no.. i call bullshit on that.
Lets see if he will prove it LOL

I also don't buy this noob accounts bs here.
He says when he heard of Bitcoin ? What 5 minutes ago when he regged his account here ?

@OP
Bitcoin is money.. so if you want money then get a job.

Bitcoin is alternative money.
What is happening is a transfer from FIAT to another currency.. BTC
So you will need FIAT to go and get BTC most likely.
This is why banks are resistant to the process.. they are losing ground to BTC and want to hinder it.

Me ?
Well unlike retard greedy kidiot profiteers that took money from their bank accounts..
i started with 0 cents invested and turned it into 12 grand in cash and spent it.
Faucets and coin giveaways etc were a key part of my process.. back in 2013.
I took what ever coin "dust" i could get and put it on Cryptsy and traded coins for profit.
I learned to trade and got better at it and made thousands.. with NOTHING invested.
I also supplemented all that with some mining on a Core 2 Duo CPU E7500 and a GPU Nvidia 550
I refused to take real money from my bank account to play with shitcoins.
I also have little respect for people that do.

What i did was the proper way and the harder way.
I had to make mistakes and learn from them.
But because i started out small most of my mistakes wee not a big loss and i rebounded quickly.
I learned when others taking money out of their bank account will not.. until later.
See the higher risk level of ding it that way ?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I don't think he's saying he made the whole $50 from faucets, I've highlighted the part where he talks about "micro trades". It's extremely hard but not impossible to turn 26c into $50 through trading.
I totally understand the attitude of people on here, there are so many fake/alt accounts and scammers around that we've reached a point where a lot of people scream scam/fake as soon as a newbie posts something they feel isn't right. That's understandable. However we need to keep in mind that not all newbies are scammers. Imagine if you're a genuine Bitcoin newbie, you come here and get called a liar on your first post. We could end up scaring away genuine newbies from the forum.

All it takes is some time and willing to learn new things.

its a good short story bro, and i really appreciated and i pray the best for your life. and now you has start your new life. my advice is don't give up, there is still a second change for us to change, all we have to do is continue what we do, don't give up.

this story will be on my mind and i can take some lesson from this, and its really give inspired to me and i hope i can stay for what i wants to reach my dream and continue my life.
