Title: 2x5970 hardware Post by: jibjabz on June 13, 2011, 10:19:38 PM I've got 2 5970's on hand (lucky me). Would something like this rig work just swapping the 5850s for 5970s?

I'm currently doing 850/300 @ 375 mhash/s, unable to find any stable combinations above 850 core clock. Trying to squeeze more mhash/s out of my 5970s as they are running only around 70 degrees. I believe theres still much OC potential in 'em.

Mostly the problem is that PSU, as well as cooling. With two 5970's you'll want a quality 850Watt PSU or better, with at least 70amps on the +12V rails. If you put those two in right now and loaded it you'd easily exceed the 600 watts since the GPUs alone take 300 watts a piece and your computer has other parts in it.https://i.imgur.com/wIRYm.png Title: Re: 2x5970 hardware Post by: jibjabz on June 13, 2011, 11:30:49 PM Ok, so better power supply. I can figure that one out. What can I do on cooling?
As far as miner/parameters the plan is to do whatever maximizes Mhash/s. Title: Re: 2x5970 hardware Post by: padrino on June 13, 2011, 11:35:23 PM Ok, so better power supply. I moved with a couple of 120mm fans to help pull air across the cards, made a huge difference and things are running well. As said above the PS is your real issue, especially f you OC since you can get them pulling quite more then stock. |
