There has been some talk about sending text messages across the bitcoin blockchain. Is there some way of implementing secure e-mail making use of the bitcoin blockchain.

Is it technically possible?  Sure.

Is it a good idea?  No.

It would be an expensive and slow way to send a message when a cheaper and faster solution already exists.  The email messages would be stored by EVERY full node forever with no way to delete them.  Why would you want any of that?

I don't see the point in that and it couldn't scale.

Hhahahaha no.

To send a message through the blockchain, you would need a means to store it - A transaction. To create a transaction that will probably get through to the next block, you'll need a transaction fee usually more than 20 cents. I wont pay 20 cents for an email.

In addition, it will take 10+ minutes on average to send an email, and your message will be public, but encrypted (hopefully). What if someone decrypts it, huh?

Yes, it is technically possible but as Decoded said, I think 20 cent on email which isn't completely anonymous because it will be publicly available despite encrypted and it's possible to decrypt someone your message. There are much better and free services to use and I think paying some cents for low secure e-mail over blockchain isn't good idea because free services are much better in security.
Also there are crypto mail services, try to google.

Well why do we have to pay while there are some free email services out there even for 20 cents.
Blockchain is kind of irremovable book for the world that you can store (something) to be recorded and can be visible to anyone, so i completely agree with decoded that send a message through blockchain is not a good idea even though the message is encrypted. But i believe that this technology will be used to create something smart in future.

Sometimes hackers and intelligence officers need only the metadata to have some knowledge of what is in the message. They do not even have to know what exactly is the message to have some sort of inkling of what is really going on. If emails were in the blockchain then all the details of the metadata will be available openly to the public. That is a big nono if you want to keep your privacy.

i think you are overthinking things about metadata while not thinking about bitcoin and how you can send a message over blockchain.

Of course, you can read unconfirmed "emails" as well ;-)
