so..
thought long and hard about what would really screw things up..
1) mtgox issues.. if this happens prices will drop 90%+
2) BFL doesn't deliver and a scam would also cause prices to go down a bit

that's all i can think of.. any other doomsday ideas?

I wonder what the price would be if the internet went down for awhile then we all pop back on stay the same? crash panic?

I believe this would be the biggest problem. Lock up your women if this unthinkable tragedy ever occurs.

Why does everyone assume the price would drop if BFL turns out to be a scam? What if all the people with BFL orders in suddenly realize that they aren't gonna be mining after all, and then decide to buy up more BTC?

I have no idea what would happen, but I could see it going either way.

Wow. If the internet went down for a while, my biggest concern would be: What in the hell took the entire internet out for a while?

I can't find the link but I read a good article recently about how the internet could go out. in summary if there was a convential war some country(ies) could bomb/blow up certain pipes underground and it would effectively cut the internet off.

to stop the internet now would involve the complete destruction of every electronic device. so back to the middle ages or 1)supervolcano (overdue) meteor or comet (50-250 yrs)E.L.E. not even all out nuclear war would destroy btc because of shelters. thats it I think. reg

If we consider the internet to be GLOBAL communication system, then yes it's possible to break it, at least where you no longer have a global communications system.

We rely on a small number of underground cables and a small number of central internet exchanges. It would in theory be possible to create widespread disruption without the need for a global catastrophe.

Let me correct spelling/capitalization/grammar:

So...
Thought long and hard about what would really screw things up with Bitcoins, and the issues are:
1) MtGox issues.. If these happen, prices will drop by 90%+
2) BFL doesn't deliver, causing scammed users to make prices to go down a bit

That's all i can think of.. any other doomsday ideas?
