Title: What software companies should accept Bitcoin?
Post by: Kprawn on October 19, 2016, 03:05:03 PM
We all have that application we use every day, and we do not want to use traditional payment methods like Credit cards to pay for these

upgrades on new versions, because we cannot trust them. Give me examples of software companies or applications you would want to

accept Bitcoin as a alternative payment method. { some are shareware, but you just want to give a donation for their good work,

because you want them to be successful. }

Examples :

Getright - Developer(s) = Headlight Software {  Website = www.getright.com }

PKZIP - Developer(s) = PKWARE Inc { Website = http://www.pkware.com }

Hiren's Boot CD - Developer(s) Hiren { Website = www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd }

ImgBurn - Developer(s) Lightning UK! { Website = www.imgburn.com }

We need to collectively look at the most popular applications and then start approaching these people to accept donations or to accept

Bitcoin payment for the upgrades or the newer versions.  ;)

So let's see what apps you use the most, and which of them should accept Bitcoin.  ;D

I think this is a great idea. You can add these to your list :

Freeware/Shareware

# Tails
# WinRAR
# Firefox
# Tor
# Total Commander
# VLC media player
# SnagIT

Commercial software

# Any of the big Antivirus companies, like Kaspersky / McAfee / Trend
# Kindle Apps <mobile & Desktop>
# Adobe

These are just some of the software that I have liked and used over time. There are a lot more on other operating systems, but I am too lazy list them all. ^smile^

Google Adsense of course. More and more people are making a living from Youtube and blogs and a lot of them have big problems getting paid in certain countries, which could be solved instantly by bypassing the mess of the banking system by using bitcoin directly.

What for ? Not all software companies are directly linked with the clients,you don't pay him directly hence they using bitcoins or not  shouldn't make any difference to you as a consumer.

Agree.Giving it a thought from companies Chartered Accountant,it would definitely help make the transactions faster,easy and avoid those secure credit card authentication.Now,companies need to keep their financial documents/tax returns/expenditures/what we call net worth.Do you think they ever honestly prove it? They could easily use random bitcoin addresses and store the cash without paying taxes and only show the amount they want to? Big loophole here?

I want to get rid of paid software anyway.I started using more open source stuff. :)

it will be very big news. when google adsense accept bitcoin then largely automated website developer will use bitcoin. they do not have to verify a credit card. because bitcoin is so easy to use.

Well, the companies that wants to go through the legal hoops, can always opt for payment done through third party payment processors,

like Coinbase. I was thinking of the smaller companies with only a few developers that brought us "gems" that we cannot do without on

a daily basis, not the big companies that are supported by shareholders.  ;) .... Say for instance a torrent client like, uTorrent.

Looks like you missed the whole point of this thread. This is not news of any kind, just a thread to list software, where you want them to

accept Bitcoin as a payment option. If we get say 500 people here, that says that they want for example Getright to accept Bitcoin, then

we can send a email to that software company, linking this thread to show them that there are people interested in paying with Bitcoin

for their product, and that may sway them to make a decision to accept it. Currently, individual people are sending emails to these

companies, and they do not link them together on their side, so it's not going to be affective.  ???

It would be really cool to see Adobe accept Bitcoin for all their products, they're definitely one of the biggest players in their field.
Bitcoin itself would get so much recognition from it.

What I want? I don't know, I'm using the same browser for years(10+), isn't a popular software, maybe with some donations they can grow more... But I think they receive some money from ads(start page, etc)

# WinRAR

Hahahahahah WinRAR, the free trial forever! They already accept bitcoin as donation or to upgrade it?
WinRAR is the real MVP!

Lol I havent used WinRAR since I was in highschool. I remember we used to share games in floppy disks and some of the files were in rar format and I that is how I learned how to use WinRAR in the DOS days. Nowadays I use 7z. They should accept Bitcoin donations.

Antivirus companies should start accepting Bitcoins. If you are a Windows user and installed or reinstalled the operating system, what software do you install first? It is an antivirus software. The cracked ones are very very unreliable because it could be the source of the backdoors and the virus in the first place. The free ones are great and they could get you started to secure your computer but most people would tend to go for upgrades but cannot because they have no credit card which is what is the most accepted payment method.

Video game developers especially ones with subscription based online games, e.g. Blizzard/WoW and others. Also games where you can deposit funds to play/buy in-game stuff/currency.

Well, you could always switch to "Brave" ... They are going to reward people with Bitcoin for browsing Ad free with their browser.... well,

actually they will push ads to you, but you would have approved of these Ads in advance. I cut my compression teeth on WinRAR and

Pkzip, and would gladly support them with a few donations, if they just accepted Bitcoin.  ;D

Bitcoin payment for the upgrades or the newer versions.  ;)

There are two big markets which bitcoin users want to see the bitcoin payment option and these are Google Play Store and App Store.

If these two big companies enable the bitcoin we can see bitcoin being used more.

Another big software company is Microsoft they have pretty large number of softwares and bitcoin payment is needed to be there.

I'd say Google Adsense should start paying out in bitcoin. This would be gross beneficial for all non-US publishers.

Hey pal, why not include microsoft, android(googleplay) and ios(appstores). I think these the most used software / operating systems in the whole world. If these guys should accept bitcoin in their businesses it going to be a big step forward for bitcoin as it will become more and more popular and it value will go very high.

AFAIK Firefox already accept bitcoin as donation.

Anti-Virus company should accept bitcoin, I agree.

I think maybe all company can adopt bitcoin, but we know if there are still haven't an understanding about bitcoin, ect and lack of security system is needed to be much stronger I think they will not make it real.

Definitely kaspersky anti-virus' licence and cfosspeed in the first place
In the second place winrar could make a decent profit if it will add bitcoin and ccleaner professional too could worth a try

That Hiren CD contains most of the smaller appz that might be helpful to a lot of people, including CCleaner basic. It also includes a windows based OS < slim version > to boot from, when things goes wrong with your OS. ^smile^ A while back, Microsoft did accept Bitcoin as a payment option, on their Xbox platform, but I cannot verify this?

Most of the Anti-virus software can be bought via Amazon & eBay, with Gyft cards bought with Bitcoin.

For using brave browser seems very complicated for me, but mostly the software are used by a lot of people in here are not going for supporting bitcoin. My daily software like chrome, and the another are not supporting bitcoin payment especially like a music software are generally never heard about accepting bitcoin, and i just could for defining if bitcoin are not a popular in the world of the software. ::) :D

Adoption of Bitcoin as payment for their services is evidence that the company is successful and trend-following. But not all countries of the world, this allows the local legislation, but I'm sure it's temporary.

You getting it wrong my friend.. Companies accepting Bitcoin is definitely not trend-followers... They are trend-leaders and pioneers in the

field. They have opened up a new income source for their business, something that their competitors do not have. So to pitch this to a

new potential adopter, should be easy... when you tell them of the advantages of tapping into a new income source. To be a early

adopter of new technology takes guts and bravery, just ask the early adopters on this forum.. they would tell you.  ;)

Somehow it would be natural for all software companies to accept Bitcoins and be part of cryptocurrencies world. We should discuss here who isn't accepting Bitcoin and not who is. But this is just the sign that even in IT industry Bitcoin is stil not fuly accepted. Perhaps that will change in the near future.

It would really have been great if PlayStore could accept bitcoins as a payment for applications or games as that is the most used marketplace for android apps in the world, that is what i feel should be the best adoption right now for applications.
