Bitcoin Exchange Bitfinex Attempts To Negotiate With $65 Million Hacker
“We would like to have the opportunity to securely communicate with you. It might be possible to reach a mutually agreeable arrangement in exchange for an enormous bug bounty (payable through a more privacy-centric and anonymous way),” writes CFO Giancarlo Devasini in Bitfinex blog post today.

All I see is a bunch of scam artists trying to legitimize their efforts to return as little as possible to the people they ripped off.

This was an inside job, and all of the "Special Purpose Vehicles" and crapcoins aren't helping -- seriously, who the fuck charges a FEE to buy a SPV when its primary purpose is to make investors whole?

A fucking scam artist, that's who.

You have to admit, that would be a pretty good scam if they pulled it off.
Take $65 million, claim you paid the "hacker" a 50% bug bounty and got the rest of the coins back.
Return $32.5 million to the customers. Keep $32.5 million that the hacker was supposedly paid.

My mind is still not made up about this whole situation.
But its very interesting and I definitely want to see where this is all going.
Maybe nowhere and the coins are never seen again.
Maybe some of the customers get some of their money back.

This is quite bizarre turn of events, why would a hacker even want to return part of the money he stole?Since the price of Bitcoin grows hacker is making more money and with all this profit he can live for life.

I also think that this is inside job, maybe some of their employees decided earlier to retire, and it's pretty foolish to expect the return of any part of the funds.

I hope some new hack not happen again,we all know how such events affects Bitcoin.

What if fbi investigations etc show this. They try to recover funds to remove that . Honestly tokens are shit they lost 72m they owe 72m. They also owe lost price increases in time they cant return.

They can't force the customers to take the 50% hit.
That 50% hit will have to be borne by the company / equity holders.

smells like a huge scam, only a retard would believe their "hacker" story
especially with all the "private and anonymous" bug bounty
you can explain literally everything with that-hey we paid 30 mil to a hacker, yep anonymously, untraceable tx,now goodbye
