Title: Reason for multiple worker accounts? Post by: FuzzyCoins on June 14, 2011, 01:39:08 AM What is the reason for multiple worker accounts within a pool? Is it technical or statistical reasons?
I am currently mining on Slush's pool and have a three machines (one with 2 GPUs, one with a single GPU, and one with a GPU and a CPU miner running on it - yes I know the CPU miner is basically worthless). At the moment I have a separate worker account for each miner per most posted instructions, but I am wondering why this is required. I note that in this post http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=7561.0 it is pool dependent and that deepbit doesn't require separate accounts for up to 10 workers. For other pools (like Slush) is there some state regarding the getwork issued that is associated with a worker account? Thanks Title: Re: Reason for multiple worker accounts? You can set up all your workers with the exact same credentials and the pool server will be none the wiser it is different cards requesting work. The reason multiple worker accounts exist is purely so users can see statistics on individual cards/workers.

the other benefit is if you are OC'ing or have heat issues you know exactly which miner is dying and you can go straight to the issue card without needing to trouble shoot the working ones. Even if not OC then you can see when you have a failure. Title: Re: Reason for multiple worker accounts? Post by: FuzzyCoins on June 14, 2011, 02:48:27 AM Thanks guys.
