Yeah I don't like this... Your money and BTC are locked behind a website. If you can't get through to the website then there goes your money...

I think I am going to back out from the Bitcoin game until some truly professional players that are capable corporations and know how to 'do' online banking/transactions.

Hopefully the price will go down again so I can actually be allowed to log in and hopefully get my BTC out.

Looks like someone needs to invent the peer-2-peer exchange for the peer-2-peer currency.  ;)

Hmm not familiar with that; could you provide a link/source? I don't see how that could be implemented properly...

no, not a scam, but they are a central point of attack by the enemy, thus non-optimal like in this situation

Ummm actually no... most people don't worry about Paypal or Chase Bank getting hacked or DDoS. But obviously geek/techie types like us who are doing something new and different such as BitCoins DO know the risk.

I have dabbled in stocks, commodities and FOREX and in any of those... hacking and DDoS would have been a rare occurence.

My money in BTC is at risk period... My account at a website should not be at risk though.

The advice of keeping coins in a secure wallet or on paper is great advice for someone who wants to hold on to BTC. I want to TRADE BTC so therefore it needs to be easily sold on the exchanges.

Either they started dealing with the DDoS, or it was more than that.
