Title: First Mtgox, now BTC-E when do the DDOS's stop?
Post by: Vince Torres on April 04, 2013, 01:26:21 AM
It's seriously starting to become detrimental to the bitcoin economy. Are people angry that they didn't manage to hop on the train before it left the station?

I saw a cloudflare warning page. I thought cloudflare is supposed to protect from DDOS

They don't stop until they're solved.  They get worse, as the exchange rate gets higher.

There's serious money in DoS-ing an exchange.  Why else did you think it was happening?

Cloudflare doesn't do sweet fuck all to prevent DDoS it just 'cleans traffic' which you could do with a pf filter, and keeps a cache of your site up in case it goes down, for whatever that's worth. You need $1,000/mth Black Lotus or Prolexic guaranteed 10Gbps and up protection, or natively host with them for 2Gbps protection which is the majority of Dos attacks.

Or run your exchange on Tor/freenet

They're not going to stop while the price is high.  They're going to increase, along with fraud attempts and attempted hacks.

and black PR all over the forums with a dozen shill accounts all crying scam on their competitors. I also see them ratting each other to various agencies esp Gox in EU with no Eurozone license to operate
