Title: Buying Bitcoin with PayPal?
Post by: OROBTC on November 01, 2016, 06:50:38 AM
...

I have not seen this addressed here (but have not looked very hard either).

I recently joined eBay, and one item I won ONLY had one method of payment: PayPal.  So I signed up (had to).  I have seen various references to using BTC to pay via PayPal, but what I am more interested in is BUYING BTC with PP.  Currently I have no inexpensive ways to buy BTC that are not a hassle or otherwise difficult (BTC ATMs around here charge a mighty 14%, Circle is now unusable for me (more crap they now want me to do), and localbitcoins is rather hard and slightly risky to use).

Anyone pass me a tip to buy BTC via PayPal?  Thanks!

Hi dude. I use Anoon.co (http://Anoon.co). I use this to buy using my credit card which is linked to my Paypal. They actually only accept Paypal, but I wanted to use credit card originally. So I found this site. Hope it helps you!

You can look our for a exchange that does it again there will be fees. Then there are sellers you can buy from. Like I am not sure the rules of this forum allow this, like post a topic you will pay via pp for the btc. If the forum rules allow you can strike a deal and save on the fees.

Buying BTC with PayPal you will always pay a Premium unless you have lots of Trust. Simply because it is easy to scam with PayPal by doing chargebacks. You'll have to start out with small amounts most likely to build your feedback and relationships with sellers. Or prove your identity in some fashion.

Paypal is very risky for the seller. It is easy to file a dispute as the buyer claiming you have not received your goods.

It may be a little bit safer if you do it through the gift option, but I've read many times that people managed to get that charged back under certain conditions.

Why would you want to use paypal if there are so many other vialbe options available? Or am I just lucky in the Netherlands that I can do one click payments and use my debit card? Maybe kraken is an option for you? They have low fees.

Coinbase, but seems like in this time for buying btc are so difficult because too many the service are approving the users for fill their identification at this site. if your country is covered by coinbase you can try to use them.

It's recommended to trade with trusted individuals but the fees could be high (as there is risks involved) , another alternative would be using Virwox.com but once again the fees are considered high to some (but the service is legit).
Another method that I personally use is E-coin.io , I link the Visa card to my PayPal account then withdraw the funds from the account to the card , then Go to my E-coin account and use the card funds to buy BTC again. (the service itself offers all those) and the fees aren't much. (I guess they took like 2$ from my 114$ transaction or something)

Noone should do that, because paypal payments are reversible, and bitcoin payments aren't.
So scam probability is like over 90%.

For sure   no one  would  able to agree with  these terms regarding    buying bitcoin  with  paypal  because  you could  do cashbacks anytime  you want and people  would  really hesistant  with this  kind of transaction  thats   why  its  really hard  to  find  people  would  really  agree with this. Being scammed   percentage would  really high  same as  you mentioned.

There are a lot of bitcoin sellers with the use of payment processors specifically paypal. You can try to check this small list:

1. virwox.com - This is what I am using to buy and sell my bitcoins for my paypal balance.

2. Coinbase - So base on the comment of other members they are recommending coinbase but I haven't tried it.

3. localbitcoins - This is also another good exchange site where you can buy bitcoins with paypal.

Try my recommendation, I promise you would not regret. They don't have fees, only the fee for sending money out of your account. Basically, this is the miner's fee we all pay when we send out bitcoins using our wallets.

I am not an affiliate of anoon.co. I just want to help you get coins faster at a lower fee. Good luck!

Basing from experience, you're always gonna pay a lot higher if you wanna buy through PP. Just go for the conventional methods for buying, it's a lot better.

Thank you everyone.  I should have mentioned that I am in the USA, which closes off a few options.

OK, it looks like PayPal is not that good a way to get Bitcoin, thanks for the comments.

FWIW, I tried setting up an account w/ Coinbase several months ago, but could not get it to work.  Circle's service DID work, and the fee was low.  But, Circle then went on to ask for more and more (data, ID, etc.), so I'm out.

localbitcoins has worked for me, but it is hard to set up appointments (I like buying in person).  I will look into that again.

Thanks also for references to Anoon.co, I'll take a look, but again, I am American.

For Americans best bet is still Coinbase. You just need to try a bit harder and it will work. Unfortunately there too they will ask for ID and data. You can buy bitcoins from Coinbase by using Bank Account or Credit Card and lately Paypal.

If you were in Europe , you just had to verify a phone number in bitpanda.com and you can buy bitcoin with Paypal and also sell and not only limited to Paypal, even Skrill and Neteller.

Read the OP, they don't want to use Localbitcoins. You can make a thread in the currency exchange section of this forum, just be sure to use escrow and don't deal with scammers and newbies(ideally you'd want to trade with trusted users). Here's a list of trusted escrowers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0/) that you can use to make your trade safer. Edit: Since when did Coinbase start accepting paypal? I thought it was only for people selling bitcoins.

Just use a VPN if anoon does not allow you to use it in the US. But, so far I had not had any problems with it. I bought probably $300 worth of bitcoins over there. Good luck sir!

I just want to clarify something - some services offer PayPal to BTC conversion and you will most likely be able to use PP to purchase BTC that way.
However, PayPal is treating Bitcoin as foreign currency and in their ToS you can find note that using PayPal as a currency exchange is prohibited.
If they somehow discover that you purchased bitcoins with your PayPal your account will be frozen.

Coinbase buys bitcoins from people using Paypal now. Here's an article on that: http://qz.com/713528/paypal-is-warming-up-to-bitcoin/ (there's plenty more articles on this news, including a link to one from epicnpc).

i think we can buy bitcoin with localbitcoins, and we transfer our balance on paypal as gift to that seller on localbitcoin, and then the seller send his bitcoin to us. i think its fine on our paypal balance and maybe our account will not get frozen by doing this.

I suggest that you stay cautious of buying bitcoin with PayPal, especially from third-party vendors and sites. Only trade with those you know, or coinbase, as has been mentioned here. I would suggest using the currency exchange here or on hackforums, but I know that it offers a way to get scammed, and generally people do not accept PayPal as it is reversible. I would much rather do an exchange in person though, rather than using a vpn, as those can be caught by companies.

Yeah this is all very doable in the localbitcoin. Because within this site we can do transaction bitcoin with multiple payment systems. but it's all going to be a great advantage if we can open an online store based bitcoin so that in the future we can have stores that potential and will get many advantages. Good luck all

Yeah, I have an incident that paypal is asking for some proofs for buying bitcoin using them. Just like this incident https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1669085.0
So for me it is better if you are going to moderate using paypal for buying bitcoins.

Well, I think if that would be the case, then a lot of exchanges here on BCT would have closed down because of it. Probably you should just declare it as some sort of online goods. Anybody have an experience doing this?
