I'm surprised eBay is allowing this (or maybe they have some catching up to do)..eBay does own PayPal...interesting

I looked at all of them and, yes, they all have free shipping.

somebody was selling them @$50 each the other day.  If all sales went off without a hitch, these guys are laughing all the way to the bank.

Agreed.

Bitcoins are selling for much higher than market rates through eBay.

Some sellers have over 1,000 + feedback... I doubt they will get canned.

Good possible market?!

No. It's against eBay rules. On top of that the seller has to deal with credit card chargebacks, bid retracts, and auction cancellation for breaking rules. A buyer could literally get out of paying a devalued bitcoin with the last reason with no repercussions.

True, I'm an avid ebay seller and previous 'power seller' ( when i had more free time ! ).  I tried buying btc here on the boards when it was around $8 and was only able to buy 4, and then all of the chargeback talk got me weary to try selling anywhere other than mtgox :P

If selling bitcoin is against ebay TOS because they consider it to be somebodies copyrighted material, they have no valid argument since it's open source.  You can't sell WOW stuff because Blizzard has a valid argument in that it's their game and at the end of the day the charactors, gold, and items in the game belong to them and are their intellectual property.

Bitcoin is open source, owned by no single person and is therefore not under the same umbrella.  They're ending all of the listings and citing copyright infringement... IMO they're citing an incorrect reason for terminating people's listings and therefore people should have every right to try selling BTC.

It is a shady market however...

One listing I was looking at this past week was around $400 for I think 8 BTC.  It had about 12-15 bids on it.  Upon further inspection of the bids, a new user w\ 0 feedback bid the item up to $200.  Then when somebody outbid that, they bid it up to $300, and then they let people bid on from there.

It is NOT going off wihout a hitch. I was one of the sellers last week. Listed 25 variations of BTC amounts, on eBay, with bids as high as $55 per BTC. Here's what happened:

- 4 listings were cancelled prior to end of auction due to TOS violation
- 2 people have claimed that their account was hacked after I sent them their BTC
- 2 people are claiming they did not recieve their BTC

I expect chargebacks. I have a few still listed now which are technically selling a silver dime with a free BTC. This may be a away around eBay TOS, but it probably won't weed out the scammers. If I get any chargebacks, I'm not selling on eBay again. Even with eBay and PayPal taking 10% of the auction, there is money to be made even if buy BTC for Mt. Gox price at the close of the auction, but it's not worth the risk, in the end I am going to lose money on this, I can just feel it.

yesterdays ebay thread. titled "EBAY bans all bitcoins accounts"

how will we word it tomorrow?? for those of you who don't know, if you reply to a thread from yesterday, it will still go to the top of the list, by doing this we can consolidate our threads, and you can still discuss what you wish, and even with more input. thread merging should be within the powers of mods.

BookofNick : Thanks for the response.  Hard to find a serious post in these threads !!!  I'll hit 350 feedback this week and am always buying/selling on ebay.

I think the silver w\ free btc thing could work.  It's sort of like OEM software where people bundle a piece of a circuit board and pretend that it makes the transaction ok.
