Is it safe to keep all your Bitcoins in one wallet in blockchain.info? I have 2FA activated but still.

Cold wallet? Why not?
Online wallet? Bad idea.

I'm keepin mine on blockchain.info without 2FA, and didn't have any issues at all, altho I'm keepin small amounts. If you have high amounts of btc, you'd be better off with a cold storage.

Thats very risky to keep online all your bitcoins.
Keep most in paper wallet for example.

If so then yes, it is equally safe to keep them all in one blockchain.info wallet or in multiple blockchain.info wallets.

If someone hacks blockchain and takes the private keys for wallets then it does not matter if they are in multiple wallets or one. I guess maybe a small chance that they only get one of your wallets not both/all.  :P

It is not as safe as keeping them in 2 wallets. Reason is you might lose your private key to one wallet, or it's possible it could get hacked in some sort of fashion. You just never know. Better to spread your funds through multiple Paper Wallets/Cold Storage. But not too many that it is a chore to keep up with.

I would recommend against this. Online wallets are a lot more risky than cold storage, and putting all your eggs in one basket (aka one wallet) is never a good idea. That doesn't mean you should go crazy with tons of wallets, but spreading the risk is smart IMO. 2fa helps but is not foolproof. Are you using windows or another OS? IMO using windows makes it a lot less secure as there are so many ways for you to have malware on your computer.

Here's a list of steps that you need to take:
1) Don't use Blockchain.info.
2) Do not use online wallets.
3) If you need a quick wallet, then use a SPV wallet such a Electrum, otherwise use a full implementation such as Bitcoin Core.

If the wallet generation method is compromised, this does not offer you added security at all. The only way that this would truly give a benefit was if you used completely different storage methods (e.g. completely different software, machine and so on).

Use multisig. Keep offline.

If you are asking if it's safe I am assuming you have a nice and considerable amount of bitcoin (at least I think it's considerable to you) and if that is the case the best option in where to store your bitcoins is without a doubt the hardware wallet.

There are a lot of them like Trezor, Ledger, Keepkey etc. You can google about them to read more in depth about them and why they are the best option so far for storing bitcoins.

No. Maybe a cold wallet would be safe but it's still risky. Split your savings into different wallets like me. I have over 20 of them and it feels much more safe.

This cannot be stated enough. A proper hardware wallet that stores you coins offline is well worth the money. Trezors are one of the best investments you can make.

No, it's not safe. But it's very boring to have money splitted everywhere. Some money on each wallet... I think the technology should give us more advantages on that way, but the virtual world is very unsafe yet.

If you fear to lose your money, you can can divide your money into different wallets and write all the informations about how much you have on each wallet, links, passwords, etc... So you won't forget about anything. It's just a possibilite...

If you store your bitcoin correctly, it does not matter if they are in one wallet or separate wallets - they are all equally safe. If you store them separately, but incorrectly, you can assume that if one wallet can be compromised, others can as well.

However you may want to use separate wallets if you want to have separate identities online - so if someone looks at your transactions it is not immediately obvious that they've come from the same user.

Yes, when you store all your coins on a trusted wallet, your coins will be safe for sure. But you stored all your coins on blockchain... I don't know if it's really safe. You should use a cold wallet. Store your coins on a computer without internet connection and without virus and you will be fine, ok?

I am showing up a little late to this thread but a thought is jumping out at me so I decided to post it.

Lets say your online wallet has a super long password and you have perfect 2FA setup on that online wallet.  So great, you go to bed thinking all is well and then you get up and find out the site has been shut down.  Its happened numerous times with major hacks.  Just because YOUR wallet is configured safely, the controlling "host" site can get robbed due to bad protocol.  Now you don't have a site to log into.  I don't want to scare you, just state the obvious.  I can see you are thinking long term so plan accordingly.  Any online site today may not be around in 5 or 10 years.  Take a long term outlook when you discuss storage.

Yeah, blockchain.info is safe online wallet and operating for many years. But if you're confident at any online wallet then try paper or cold storage. I recommended it for big amounts of coins. Im using online wallet and so far so good and doesnt steal my btc.

If it's big money you should keep it on different addresses.

If it is big money it should be conserved adequately with the proper secure wallet. Paper wallets if generated offline in an offline computer and safeguarded like they should is the best free option to keep your money safe. If you have some money to spend on a hardware wallet by all means do so.

Many people thought they were secure with wallets like blockchain.info until they found out that they were not secure at all. Better prepare yourself in advance with the proper bitcoin wallet to store your coins in a safe way. Maybe it will look like a difficult thing in the beginning but is not.

Nothing is %100 safe. Even if you use a hardware coldwallet, it can always get stolen by someone.

However, you can always reduce your risks to minimum. The biggest risks are using online wallets and using unprotected computers. If you fix those, you are %99 safe. Most people get hacked because they are too reckless about securing their PC's. We live in 2016 and there are still people who use their PC without an antivirus. They deserve everything they got.

You can still reduce risks to get hacked by using multiple wallets but to me that's too much work. 1 wallet is more than enough if you follow simple security steps. Take a look at people who get hacked on Polo or btc-e, all of them them weren't using 2FA. A system like 2FA is just a simple security system yet it is hack proof %100. (unless someone hacks the whole website at least)

It is not safe at all, people mostly use multiple wallets of different type to keep all their coins to be safe because if you just keep them in one and if it is an online wallet then you are not 100% safe as there is always a chance of a website to get hacked or something, so you should better keep them in a offline or cold wallet in order to be safe.

Do yourself a favor and please activate 2FA... Especially by announcing it here you make a potential target of yourself.

It is hardly any work at all to activate it and it will really boost the security of your coins.

Its not  fully  safe though  even you  block  tor  connections and 2fa  , all web wallets do have some risk on  lossing   your  bitcoin hence you  dont  have  the posession   of your  private keys  on  your  bitcoin then  for sure   the  risk  of  lossing  it is still there  unlike  on storing  your bitcoin  on a  hardware wallet or desktop  pc  which you have  your private keys  and  could able to retrieve  or get your bitcoins back incase it would  be  lost. Web wallets are  good  only  if  you do  make  fast transactions and  just be sure to store  only  small amounts.

You are talking about keeping coins in one online wallet. It is mistake.
None online wallet will never be safe enough. If you want your coins are safe, keep them in your cold wallet. In addition, secure it with very good password and copy wallet.dat to at least two external media.

Yes 100% but if you are not sure restoring or holding your bitcoin wallet in one wallet like blockchain.info you can find some good bitcoin wallet and if there's an bitcoin wallet that based on your country it is really good when yo uare using it , it makes your transaction more faster than other wallets

Many forum users say that it's not safe, because it's an online wallet and we don't have control over our private keys. But I agree with you that is good to use a exchange or wallet from our country, it's easily when we want to exchange the bitcoins into our real money.

according to my experience has been that using blockchain.info and have added 2FA highly secure 100%, never lost.
but I suggest if the store in a very large amount, it is better to divide with some cold wallet.

It might be safe if he storing them on hardware wallet due to online wallet is very risky even though the 2FA is enabled on your account, aand this is clearly and has been discused so many times before that online wallet is risky for storing bitcoin but it's ok for storing little amount of your bitcoin, anyway i don't recommend to storing you money on local exchanger it's better for you to cashout to fiat imediately, i had a bad experience, my account has been frozen including all of the bitcoins out there, better to have your own private key.

Online wallet also quite good to have your bitcoins. However, sometime if you log in by google search, You need to get scammed these kind of situations. Better try to use the desktop wallet or cold storage to have your bitcoins with better safety.

Yes it is. But you still need to be secured enough. You need to keep your systems well secured with iutlines given by ghe creater. More google search finders tend to notice the URL once they start fròm sining in. I happened to experience these kind of issues. It lead me loose around .05 btc

It is not about buyin/selling Bitcoins via exchange, it is about storing all Bitcoins. Stories about exchanges hacks are starting from Mtgox, and you can be sure that anyone who lost money through such hack, never more hold coins in online wallets.

Offline cold storage wallet is going to be the only thing that is totally safe.

Depending on the amount you are talking, its probably fine to store in an wallet like Electrum etc.
Be sure to find a wallet that lets you keep permission of her private key.

Least secure is the exchanges.
You can enable 2FA so ono one can get in without using an app on their cell phone,
but you don't control your private keys, and if someone finds a security hole in the site they may rob the entire exchange.
And there is no FDIC insurance to replace your money if it gets stolen.

not really safe to store coins in blockchain.info as that is an online wallet if you asked me, we will never know if the site goes down without any notification to its users, can you say that is safe? even blockchain.info last forever, there is still a risk you will get hacked or lose your 2FA device. safe is when you have full control over your private keys and having backup of it

I wouldn't recommend storing all of your Bitcoin in an online wallet as it is very insecure. Only store small amounts on an online wallet and make sure to change your wallet address frequently to increase security. However, there is not problem with storing it in a cold wallet.

Ofcourse blockchain is the safest bitcoin wallet in internet that most people uses nowadays to store there bitcoins or there earnings from trading and gambling blockchain is very safe not only to have 2fa activiated but also the key or username of your account will always send it to your email address.

It depends on how good you are at managing different account.
In case you are a little absentminded and put the list with your passwords in places you forget them, or match the passwords to the wrong wallets, it might be a good decision to make it as easy as possible.
And that would mean having just one wallet where everything comes together.

Of course, if that one wallet is corrupted somehow, everything is gone.

I think ther is no program out there that can actually break into your wallet and steal the coins you own.
With corrupted I mean that somebody gets hold over your login details. That can happen if the computer has some sort of virus on it that logs your key strikes.
It's the same with the printed version. Pictures are taken relatively fast these days with every smartphone.
Once the coins are out of your reach, they are lost for ever.

If you have a lot of Bitcoins, it is good to have a couple of wallets, both hot wallets and cold wallets, hot wallets for daily using of your bitcoin and cold wallet for large storage of your bitcoins.

You can always add funds from your cold wallet to your hot wallet anytime, but problem is you need to store all your wallet recovery phrase well in case you forgot your password and lose access to your bitcoins.

As we have seen in the crypto world hacks and security issues happen ALL THE TIME. The only real way to keep your BTC safe is with an offline wallet. If you don't have a ton of BTC its probably not worth the hassle though.

It would really not   worth  for the  hassle   if you  only  posses  only small amounts  of bitcoin  , then   you should not bother  yourself   about  choosing and deciding  how  many wallets you should used because  its still useless thing.  You would really  need to  ask these things if  you do  have  huge amounts  of bitcoins, as  same on other  members said here better to  put up those  bitcoins on a cold storage and  just   impart  only a small percentage   on  your hot wallet.

A wallet does not simply get corrupted, it can get hacked or someone can forget the password if he is using a web wallet, and in that case if you have not saved your recovery phrase and you also don't have your private key then your bitcoins will be freezed their and no one will have access to them unless someone hack your account which i don't know if possible or not.

Well, it's best to keep your Bitcoins in cold storage and hardware wallets, but if yiu do wish to keep the online, so that they can be accessed easily, i'd suggest, use the blockchain ONLY! It's the most hack proof of all. And why not keep them in one wallet? Hacking is almost impossible nowadays with the kind of security Blockchain uses...I have studied it, the protocols are pretty secure and it's pretty hard to crack.

first of allyou should explain what type of bitcoin wallet you are using so it can give us a clear review to decide on. anyway i am using a android wallet and an desktop wallet. and i trust both of them even if dont have the full network control i mean i am not downloading the full blockchain network but yes its safe and maximum level of security is there

i would not suggested to keep all of our bitcoin in one wallet because if something bad happen then we can loss all of our bitcoin, so better to spread your bitcoin into many wallet and don't forget to activate 2FA. don't put all your egg in one basket.

Offline and online wallet has its disadvantages. They all both has a risk. Its up to you how you manage the risks For small amount, i preffer online wallet. But for large amount i preffer cold storage or paper wallet. If you are not confident to to store your btc in one wallet. Then split it and store it to your desired wallet.

For me it's not safe. Why?, because what if someone accidentally open your account and transfer all your bitcoin in his account?, then all your hard works, efforts, and time just to earn that amount of bitcoin would just be ended up in nothing. The other is that you can also get ban here if someone notice that you are using one bitcoin wallet using your two account here, and I know you don't want it to happen, that's why it would be better if you would have two different bitcoin wallet in your two account to be safe.

It's not a good idea. Even if you already set all the security configurations the system isn't 100% safe.
The chance of something bad happen to your money is low but it's real.
If you have a lot of money, caution with that, because you can be the target of malicious persons.

I am more comfortable using online wallet.  Cause i change my password everyday to avoid being hacked by someone ,and using 2a authentication.

For my opinion, is it safe to keep all your bitcoins in one desktop wallet but your computer must be safe from viruses or malware and also encrypted with passwords. For online wallets, I do not think they are very secure as I do not have the full control of the wallet. I cannot get the private keys on the online wallet sometimes. They also might discloses information to a third party as the service can associate your payments together, log your IP address and know your real identity if you provide personal information like your email, name or banking account. So choose your wallet carefully.

I think his holding huge amount of bitcoin or his planning to make some investment or his gonna convert his money into bitcoin and try his luck to do some good trading and investment with bitcoin currencies and he is just confused if someone can really hack his wallet and steal his coin by generating or making some sh*t programed

Actually  you could already get your private  keys  on a  particular web  wallet which is   blockchain.info ,  this  information  is  being said    on this forum  by some  member which  i  knew it  also recently  and  i try to  find it and  i  actually see it  and its  really a good thing   that we  have an access  to   our keys  on a web wallet. New thing  on  my  ears but  this is really a good news.

If you ask me, Yes it's safe to keep all your bitcoins in one wallet. I've been keeping my bitcoins on a blockchain wallet for a few months and based on my experience, I didn't encountered any problems. But before you put all your bitcoins to one wallet you need to make sure that your wallet is secured by enabling 2FA so even though the hackers already know your password they can't get your bitcoins because you have the final key which is the 2FA.

4 years I use blockchain.info and also activated 2FA. as long as it is also I keep my bitcoin in large amounts and I never got any problems, let alone got hacked. blockchain.info even now getting better with new features, as well as better security.

If you have 2FA activated, then I think it is safe. Your mobile is always with you, so everything is ok. But you can buy also Trezor hardware wallet - it is safest bet.

In my own  opinion  with this , i could really say  that  its better  to  store all your  bitcoins  on a single  wallet   for you dont have any confusions  regarding  on your  transactions , if you do  really  hold  tons of  bitcoins  then  make  a  partitions, best to store  those on a hardware wallet  with  private keys  been  keep secure and then  get  only the amount  you would  use and  put it on either  pc wallet or  web wallet  just  be  responsible  to take care of your  bitcoins.

It depends on  what  type  of   wallet  are you storing  up  your bitcoins, If its  on an  online wallet then  sure  it has big risk  on  lossing it because  you  dont have  its private keys  unlike on pc wallets and  cold storages.  Web wallets are  only  good for faster online transactions.

Agree,  web or online wallet  are good  only for   fast exchange or payments  onto services  online or  buying up something but  its not really safe  to   put  up your   bitcoin  on  their    but   there are  still good web wallets like  blockchain  which  do have a good security   on their  wallets and i didnt even heared about  any complain  of  being  hacked  or  lost  bitcoins  into someone. 

It depends on what kind of wallet you are using.  Cold storage is recommended if you're planning to keep all your coins in one wallet.
As for me I'm dividing my funds into 3 wallets,  1 Web, 1 Android,  1 windows

Keeping bitcoins in online wallet involves huge risk as some may hack your wallet in future so better choice is to put them in offline wallet so the risk of loosing your bitcoins gets lower and you can transfer your bitcoins to online wallet only in case if you are gonna sell them and that also the amount that you require.

If one type of wallet by chance got identified with any possible vulnerability, the bitcoins in other type of wallet will be safer by that time. So, it highly advisable not to hoard all the coins into single address/wallet. Personally I use multibit, electrum and blockchain.info for various reasons. I have back up in three different geo locations.
